Just finished watching it.
Absolutely loved every minute of it.

But I have a question about the very very end.

SPOILER

At the end Cathrine talks about the man who did the killing being the result of his grandfather abusing his mother.
We then see Ryan, the grandson who was the result of the rape of Catherine’s daughter, running across the field.
Now Tommy-Lee always claimed it wasn’t rape but he was a twat. But is the implication that Ryan was a product of abuse by Catherine’s husband rather than Tommy-Lee?

Oh no I took it to mean that maybe rape and abuse has some sort of genetic link.

So she is worried that Ryan might grow up to have a propensity for rape. He is shown as having anger issues isn't he?

Sorry it's years since I watched Happy Valley.
I absolutely loved it. Especially series one. I remember how shocking it was when the 'nice' kidnapper finds the underwear and realises Tommy has raped the hostage. It was so unexpected. My blood ran cold.

Years since I watched it - it was one of the best series on TV, ever.

There was talk of another series recently, wasn't there?

Not sure how they'd do that - it's been umpteen years and we're all a lot older, slower and chubbier.

I loved it too so so good. There is another series in the pipeline, the writer wanted to wait for Ryan to grow up so it seems more authentic than using another actor. I can't wait for another series, Sarah Lancashire is absolutely amazing!

Hooray!

Have to admit that despite the ravages of time, I'll be thrilled when it is broadcast.

I've been watching Unforgotten on Netflix which passed me by at the time, probably because it was ITV.

If you haven't seen it then I really recommend It's similarly brilliantly acted and scripted.

I love Unforgotten. Like you things on ITV tend to pass me by but I make an effort to watch it.
