I watched this yesterday, I thought it was good, but he's the twist at the end, it's left me quite unsettled!' Did you enjoy it?

I've read the book and it really freaked me. I've watched episode 1 so far, and am glad I know what happens, I think I'd be very unsettled if I was watching and didnt know.

Missushbb I also felt very unsettled I felt an element of rape.I wondered if Louise knew in the end if Adele was really Rob and not the real Adele, I was really wanting him to reveal to her what he did her to did to the real Adele, we saw the flash back but it would have be interesting to see her reaction to it know this wasn't the first life he had taken and that Adele had been the first victim.

Looking at the flash back Adele was such a lovely bubbly personality its hard to see how her husband could not notice such a big shift in her personality and that he stayed with her as long as he did. I know his watch was with robs body but even so. I wondering why Rob would stash his body in the way instead of just saying it was an overdose.

I thought it was telling how Adam knew straight away his mother was wrong and even her ex that Louise wasn't the same person however David again was completely clueless. However when he was intimate with Adele (rob) he couldn't even look like at like subconsciously knew it wasn't her when it was the real when they were younger he was normal. It was very interesting take on the sub natural aspect and consent and stealing lives and I enjoyed the mini series very much. Its based off a book very closely. I would love a second series.

So much that confused me. What were the drugs for, the ones Adele took each day, or David thought she took? Thought i detected an Irish accent from Adele and googled to find out she is Bono's daughter!! Made me feel old! 😂

Missushbb so David had drugs prescribed for Adele/Rob must likely for biopoplar disorders which she didn't take and got rid of the Herion she started taking again when she knew she was losing david and was injecting in between her toes, she injections herself and started the fire and goes into the trace the Louise in habits her body and Adele/rob goes into Louise and she overdose her.

I think whats so sad is Adele is painted as the villain, when in reality is the real victim here. She was such a lovely kind character. She lose her family in a house fire, ended up in a rehabilitation centre..She befriended someone who was less fortunate then herself, who most who have seen as beneath them, she didn't judge for where they came from or what the did. She helped them with their night terror and even taught them to control their dreams and travel. She welcomed him into home and life and he turned round stole her body killed and stole her life and partner and stole her memory. She is remembered as someone who was unhinged and unkind when in reality she was lonely grieving and taken advantaged of.

I read the book a while ago and it stated with me. Partly because the twist was so ridiculous. I'm now on episode 5 and I'm not sure what I'd be thinking if I hadn't read the book. David definitely portrayed as a villain but I find 'Adele' very creepy.

I just felt really sorry for the real Adele and that her story didn't really get discovered. Some people people referenced the pigeons being Adele/Louise

I thought the twist was good and really didn't see it coming. I thought I'd worked out that David and Adele had each killed her parents and Rob and were therefore bound together and that's what would be revealed.

At least it explained why there was so much time spent on the dream sequences which seemed pointless and really got on my tits after a while.

Poor little Adam though ...

I really enjoyed the book despite usually having a pretty low tolerance for supernatural woo. I think it's a pretty faithful adaptation, although they left out the fact that 'Adele' killed Marianne's cat and I don't think it was as clear that she was trying to get David and Louise together. Thought the shift in their personalities and demeanours when Rob had taken over was very good. However, David just came across as an out and out bastard so it was unclear why anybody would want him!

Interesting extras from the books about adele being pregnant when Rob stole her body and her aborted the baby. And then rob planning an accident for poor Adam all taken from the book.

"David just came across as an out and out bastard so it was unclear why anybody would want him!"

When you know that Adele has been taken over by evil Rob, he comes across as more of a saint than a bastard.
I also found it quite disturbing and was a bit scared to go to sleep last night.

Sure, but we didn't know that until the last episode, and Louise didn't know at all during the time she was shagging him, and neither did David, for that matter. All you could see was a controlling husband who fired his secretary because she said some things he didn't like while he was having an affair with him. They really should have left in the bits with the cat that were in the book, I think, to make Adele seem properly unhinged, because otherwise it seemed rather thin.

"All you could see was a controlling husband who fired his secretary because she said some things he didn't like while he was having an affair with him. "

I think we could see A LOT more than that. There were hints that Adele might have been evil and not just a bit mad. Even the house seemed quite evil. The controlling thing was obviously to do with her 'illness'.
I haven't read the book so I only saw what was quite heavily suggested in the series.
The sacking of Louise I guessed was for her own good because by then we knew about the watch and Rob in the well and that there were some odd things about David and Adele.

The book made it all rather more clear and we have access to Adele's internal monologue, so David was a more sympathetic character. I just think that factor was missing in the series, and it could have done with more direction. Even knowing from the start who Adele really was, I didn't much like David as he was portrayed, and I thought we weren't given enough reason to sympathise with him until right near the end. Just my view, of course, probably coloured by already knowing the plot before watching.

I disagree though. He was generally quite sympathetic, with a bit of ambiguity about his role in the fire/Rob.
