Anyone watch this tonight?

Just catching up now, it's the same show as "Your Home Made Perfect" but you guessed it.. a garden makeover this time!

It will be on iplayer to catch up on!

Awful. Everyone has been styled to a tee, the main clients obviously had cash to flash and I really wasn't impressed by the garden itself. All filler and no substance.

I thought the end result was lovely for the main make over. The Japanese one just looked silly,

The garden design was lovely but I couldn't believe they cut down the monkey puzzle tree. They could have dug it out and sold it for lots of money if they didn't want to keep it.

Glad they chose that design over the Japanese one but I hated the silly little slopes down in the first lawn.I know they didn't want big changes in levels but their children were past the toddler stage and if it was me would want a piece of lawn that size to be level.

I couldn't either, I thought it would have been better to try and incorporate it into the design.

Also, did anyone else think that the first garden already pretty much looked like a made over garden! It made me laugh how they did a close up of a trainer on it to make it look more messy.

I'm hoping next week has an overgrown mess of a garden Grin

That garden make over was £33k. I thought that was crazy money for the end result. They'll never maintain it, but I suspect they can afford to pay a gardener. I liked how the young man was thrilled with his modest space!
Agree about the lovely monkey puzzle tree - they could have given it to the young man for his garden!

I didn't enjoy it as much as Your Home Made Perfect, so a bit disappointed. I'll still watch again next week though!

I'd rather have had Robert the Irish architect designing them with his bench seating Grin

Just thinking -wasn't there a small gap around the back and side of the pergola filled with plants?Don't get me wrong I'm all for plants and real grass-I hate all this 'outdoor room's stuff and spend hours gardening myself. But that will be a difficult to access and maintain overtime surely ?

I hate the title and the programme The world isn't perfect. Gardens shouldn't be perfect ,unless it's for wildlife! Sorry for the rant.

There's a brilliant book out called WILDING by Isabella Tree. Have a look at it.

I stopped watching when they said they were going to do this, it takes years and years to grow a monkey puzzle tree. The programme was all flash technology anyway. Charlie Dimmock's programme just uses a drawing to show their ideas and that does the job.

Ppeat. Actually totally agree with hating the title.I wondered if I should watch the series because suspect I will end up shouting at the TV.I know it's a controversial subject but I hate astroturf unless exceptional circumstances. And increasing my heart sinks when I see articles or programmes promoting lighting up your outdoor room etc.I have read about the rewilding of Knepp estate. And listened to nature podcasts. There were eventually a lot more plants and pollination in the garden last night which is something. But gardens lit up like Xmas trees and curated within an inch leave me cold

I wasn't really impressed with the first garden either. I think for how much it cost, they could have had something a bit more imaginative.

And I agree that £33 fir the garden they got fir the second house was just ridiculous.

I liked the second small garden more, it was a more realistic budget and good that the guy had to do a lot of the work himself and was then so pleased with the end result. I thought the Japanese design was a triumph of style over sense, it didn't match the house or its surroundings at all, the second garden was lovely but over-styled and as for the price - £33k!!

33k was a shocker!! To basically relay a patio and build a pergola.
To knock down one tree and replace it with another was boggling.

I came on here to see if anyone else had thought this, and I'm very glad several have. I couldn't believe it when they marched up with a saw.

On purely monetary grounds, a quick google suggests that monkey puzzles that size would cost significantly more than 1k to buy. I've seen suggestions that they might not be very easy to transplant, but surely worth a try? Regardless, cutting down a perfectly healthy (and lovely) tree was so upsetting to see.

Couldn't believe the 33k either.....Shock

I really liked this program.it makes such a change to spend the whole time talking about design, rather than watching a group of guys digging holes and concreting Over everything in site. I always end up fast forwarding to the end to see the final product. With this program there was plenty to learn. The 3D was pretty cool..no?

Haven’t watched it but have read articles about this show. Any garden designer who lays fake grass shouldn’t be given airtime on TV. It is vile stuff that kills wildlife.

Yes I totally agree, I wonder how much flood water that stuff soaks up?

Have you watched the original show that this is a spin off from? ' Your Home Made Perfect' think there's been 2 series so far, it's either on iplayer or might be on Netflix now.

It's worth watching, as yes, I prefer the focus being on the design rather than the actual building.

Agree that it's nowhere near as good as Your home made perfect. The final look round was very much a victim of social distancing and looked quite stilted.
And yet - I'll still be watching as I have a soft spot for Angela Scanlon and her enthusiasm Smile
I hope there's more of a mixture of loads of money vs v little in future episodes

I liked it. And we have a garden that size and every landscaper / garden designer that have looked at it have said '25k' to do it
Which is why it's still not done, 😀
but I dont think it's extortionate for say a 500k house
