(587 Posts)Is anyone else looking forward to this? Once it finishes, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier starts, and then Louise after that. After 2020 being a Marvel-less year I am quite excited for a big dose of MCU escapism.
Oh god I'm so excited for this. Also desperate for the release of Black Widow and GOTG3
I love how the trailer gives nothing away..at all..so intrigued by it! Ready for more marvel
Glad it isn't just me roll on next Friday. Good to see the trailers are giving nothing away, I try very hard to not get spoiled so I have averted my eyes when I've spotted one.
Um - what?
Is it me or is this bloody odd?
I've been looking up spoilers and i think I have more of an idea of what might have gone on, but even then it was still just not engaging. And there's only 9 episodes, so they've got to get to something quick!
I like it. Feels like a gentle homage to the sitcom with the odd Marvel reference thrown in.
They should have condensed both of those episodes into one. If something more doesn’t happen quickly people won’t stick with it.
I found it intriguing enough that I'll keep watching, even though I'm not an avid MCU fan. DS (who is) pointed out some of the references for me as we went along.
Ds is obsessed, there’s lots of hidden stuff from the comics apparently
That was... odd! I think it mostly worked, DH thought it was shite 😅 but I'll keep watching. It was certainly a brave decision by Marvel Studios, but I guess when all your films are well received and make a bazillion dollars you can afford to take risks on the small screen.
I get a sense of where it is going but it was just really boring and I just wanted it to get on with it. I just feel quite irritated watching it!
God it was desperately dull.
DDs had been so excited about this, we all just found it a bit weird. DH and I got some of the sitcom references but they went straight over the girls’ heads. Not sure who it is meant to appeal to, really.
So Wanda is trapped in some
kind of virtual reality? People are trying to rescue her? Maybe she ends up having to choose between this false reality with Vision in it and the real world without him.
Apart from the toaster advert being Stark industries and the weird watch advert being Stücker (it also said Hydra in the watch face) what other Marvel references did people spot?
Dotty was played by Emma Caulfield - Anya in Buffy!
It’s just such an odd concept. Ds1 is an enormous Marvel fan and apparently this is lifted straight from one of the comic series but the comics are old and the Bewitched/Dick VD premise would have been more relevant when the comic was written. IMO it’s too far removed from what the kids are used to watching to appeal to them for long unless they move things on quite swiftly. DH and I are of an age where we remember Bewitched and Ds1 watched an episode before watching this but DS2 was clearly bored and has been expecting a lot more. DS1 said there were various Easter Eggs but I’ve had to sit through everything Marvel and I didn’t spot anything apart from the very obvious ones. Personally I think it’s all very self indulgent at the moment. The makers have decided they want to do it and so they’re sticking rigidly to the comic storyline without thinking about the expectations of the audience.
'My husband and his indestructible head'
I liked it..sort of. Not sure how they'll manage to drag it out to 7 more episodes. Especially as Vison is dead so you know more or less what is going on. Different..see how it all pans out.
God I LOVED it! So much going on. Definitely one for the obsessives among us though. I didn’t find it boring in the slightest, and some of it was really unsettling.
Are you using your night vision Vision?
I watched it with my 13 year old, we are both Marvel fans. He didn’t enjoy it at all. He didn’t get the 1950’s tv show look and not enough happened to keep him interested.
I will watch the rest but I think I’ll be on my own.
I quite enjoyed it. Reminded me of when things begin to unravel in The Truman Show/Life on Mars.
Watched it with my teens and had to explain I Love Lucy/Bewitched.
Intrigued as to where it's heading.
Why isn’t this thread in Streaming TV?
Because I was unaware that sub topic existed.
Agree that the first two eps should have been combined. The first ep was just too slow and full of filler.
I read somewhere that each ep will be a different TV show homage - so expect something from the 70s, the 80s, etc. Lots of leaks going around that there will be a Full House ep (Elizabeth Olsen's sisters played Michelle).
