We just watched the Royle Family Christmas special - The Queen of Sheba, where Nana dies. Laughed and cried my eyes out!

It's a contender for the best TV series Christmas special in my opinion ... but what would be your choice?

I like one foot in the grave when they go on holiday and the donkey pees in the bath. Actually I'm not sure it was a Christmas special but it was definitely a special and one of the funniest things I've ever watched on TV.

I love all Christmas specials! I like to watch them all again this time of year!
All the royle family ones
Gavin & Stacey - both!
Vicar of dibley
Him & her
Teachers
Peep show
Mrs brown
Jam & Jerusalem
Absolutely fabulous
Only fools & horses
Not going out

What others are there?

If it’s got a Christmas tree in it - I’ll watch it!

The dinnerladies episode where Bren and Tony get together is sublime.

I would say Jam and Jerusalem too.

And I think there is going to be a Motherland Christmas special this year.

I've just remembered that I recorded the Gavin and Stacey Special last Christmas - and I still haven't watched it! 😲

It's still on my PVR recorder thingybox, along with loads of other stuff.

Vicar of Dibley eating all the sprouts is my fave.

I do agree about the dinner ladies episode too though, rewatched it all recently.

The Good Life.

Margo's Christmas in a van isn't delivered, so she and Jerry have a DIY Christmas with Tom and Barbara.

This is ancient, but I remember the Good Life having a good Christmas special - I think Margo bought the Goods a pig(?).

For some reason the Bottom Christmas special springs to mind! I will add I was very young when I watched it the first time around and my humour is much more sophisticated now. Terry's All Gold, Frankinstein and Grrrr. Grin

What happened in the Ab Fab Christmas special Flackattack was that when they went to Morocco?

@Facelikearustytractor I loved that Bottom Christmas special 🤣

I like the Fr Ted one as an episode but not sure it's very Christmassy.

I like The Office best too but am hoping that I‘ll have another favourite after this year as Ghosts is doing one and I absolutely love that. DD12 can’t wait either!

My all time favourite is the Mr Bean Christmas special, where he goes Christmas shopping/gets the turkey stuck on his head Grin

Some other favourites:

  • Vicar Of Dibley (four Christmas dinners)
  • Father Ted (Todd Unctious/lost in the ladies lingerie section)
  • Peep Show (Mark’s family come over for Christmas dinner)
  • Keeping Up Appearances (the QE2 episode, or for something more Christmassy the one where Richard dresses as Father Christmas)
  • One Foot In The Grave (lots to choose from, but my favourite is when Victor and Patrick are stranded in a house together in the middle of nowhere, or for something more Christmassy the one where Victor and Pippa’s dad are held hostage in the church hall on Christmas day)

Gavin and Stacey especially last years.
The good life - the homemade cracker hats
Vicar of dibley - all of those Christmas dinners
Royale Family

Dinnerladies - There's 2, one a few days before Christmas and a Christmas Eve one. Where they get Bren a brass band. I love Dinnerladies
Royale Family - The Christmas one where Emma's Mum and Dad come round. They're really wealthy and a pain in the arse.
Vicar of Dibley - The one where she eats all the Dinners
Keeping up Appearances - The QE2 - Where Hyacinth dances with Onslow at the end and really enjoys herself. For some reason that always makes me cry a bit, it's so lovely seeing her just let go. I think it was the last episode ever.
The Good Life - The one everyone else has mentioned.
The first Gavin and Stacey Christmas one, where Petes mum falls asleep behind the bar.

I'm going to disagree with the above and say Vicar of Dibley with the Nativity play! Hands down best one!

And the first series of dinnerladies where they're having the Christmas Party before the takeover .
"Show Up , Throw Up and Bog Off Home"

I like the watch Eastenders old Christmas episodes ( and the Classic EE will have another Christmas in a couple of weeks Xmas Grin )

There are loads on here I've never watched (any of) - Vicar of Dibley, The Office , Gavin& Stacey .

Father Ted

Dinnerladies was fab (they're all on YouTube btw)
Also love the Good Life ones, and Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads.
Vicar of Dibley (before they got too silly) and the Royle Family.
