@WhatDoHedgehogsSay they're on ebay for less than a tenner!

I’ve been catching up with this as my DC are desperate for a pup (we aren’t getting one), the family who are getting another St Bernard I think are nuts but there you go, they clearly like a busy life! As is the woman who has a pram for her dog.

I love the little bedlington terrier and I want the Mum’s star scarf.

She didn't recommend a Leonburger IIRC - the woman was determined to get a giant dog and she brought over a Great Dane and a Leonburger to see what it would really be like with a giant dog. She looked shocked when the woman said that she had gone ahead and got a puppy. Given that the woman turned up in gravity-defying heels and seemed to have spent more time worrying about her appearance than what she needed to bring a new puppy home, I was surprised that the breeder let her have the pup at all.

The family are getting a second St. Bernard puppy shock

Just watching this
Wtf the woman putting shoes on the puppy

The behaviourist isn't great. I remember last series she recommended a lady got a Leonberger when she lived in a top floor flat. Those stairs on a large, growing puppy is just a no no.

It's a fun show but doesn't promote responsible dog ownership. Although the collie being trained to be a rescue dog in Scotland was lovely (last series).

you are absolutely right @WotWouldCJDo

Meg's owner can I say annoyed me, she wasnt firm enough.

To be fair, if I was about 13 and working on the family farm due to the results of my dad's life-changing accident, I'm not sure I would have got it all right in front of a film crew.

watching this programme highlights the mistakes and pitfalls

What jumps out at you? It's about 15 years since I last had to train a puppy and I'm sure I've forgotten a lot. What stuck out for me is not giving the puppy the space and calm they need; giving 6 different instructions when 1 would do; oh, and putting your own whims before even the most basic needs of the puppy.

I’m enjoying this programme, mostly because we hope to get our puppy in the new year. We’ve considered it very carefully and watching this programme highlights the mistakes and pitfalls.
It was so sad about Meg.

poor Meg though, just devastating sad

the london man seemed to like his dog eventually.

omg how awful sad

the poor girl, she must have been devastated

Madbengalmum Thu 19-Nov-20 18:58:29

Happy, sadly she was run over and died .

HappyThursdays Thu 19-Nov-20 11:56:56

I missed it - what happened to Meg?

WotWouldCJDo Thu 19-Nov-20 08:47:40

He's a Chinese Crested Powderpuff. I think he had a lovely personality, but it wasn't a face I found bonny. I did really struggle to have kind thoughts about his owner. I also felt sorry for the London dad. Having a dog in your house, against your wishes, is one thing but being expected to be so hands on is another.

I thought it was lovely how the old girl Elena from Cyprus got a new start. That was beautiful.

I was shocked by the news about Meg at the end, I wish we could have heard from his poor owner.

I felt sorry for the dog in the pram. I get the feeling that she has it as a baby substitute, and that it will never live a proper dog’s life.
Did anyone catch what breed/breeds it was ? It was a stunning pup.

WotWouldCJDo Thu 19-Nov-20 08:10:32

Another difficult episode to watch. People are complicated.

I'm not a dog owner at all , but a few of the owners did seem a bit clueless.
I felt sorry for Meg who is being trained as a sheep dog and is obviously not cut out for a life of rounding up sheep! They all seemed so disappointed she hasn't got 'the eye' yet!

WotWouldCJDo Thu 12-Nov-20 17:06:42

I felt quite sorry for some of these dogs.
