Is it just me or is she really fake?

Agree ! She's always irritated me for some reason. They must be made of money to be able to do up Rise Hall and then still have their house in London as well as building a new home!

This is ghastly. Even the quirky voiceover is grating.

I mean building a stately home? Cue self inflicted crises. They haven't even put in for planning permission yet, we're getting an extended advert for her parenting skills.

Must admit the four cupboards are absolute goals :)

Seems to be a self-promo programme on parenting than anything else at the mo....

DP wants to know if she's on drugs. She's just jumped into a puddle and squawked with excitement.

BUILD THE FUCKING HOUSE ALREADY

I don't like her pronunciation of the word "issue" but then again I'm a northerner

Will watch later. Did she ever finish rise hall? I liked watching that one but ended with tonnes still left to do and arguments about getting a venue licence.

@Wearywithteens That’s exactly what my DH said.

I agree with weary, really bad timing. The last thing I want to watch is a series about a rich smug family building a stately home

Report
Caelano · 11/11/2020 20:50

@Wearywithteens we were saying the same thing.
It’s all so smug it’s cringey. They really seem
To think that just because they’re loaded and have decided to move out of London, they own the fucking countryside

Where is the narrator from? Is sounds like a pretend Somerset accent! This is going to be annoying!

Well I am enjoying it and must say I have always liked her. Some women are always so bitchy towards women like her . Very catty and unnecessary really, why so negative all of you? Is it jealousy , maybe ?

I thought the segment about the lambing lovely and her boys seem nice natural kids, a credit to her .

So she grew up like the Good Life, but doesn't k ow what barbed wire is called?

Itchy chin, Sarah Beeney, ITCHY CHIN!

Oops! I quite enjoyed it. Obviously a very strong marriage and a lovely family. I think she made her money from property development which she was in at just the right time where house prices were soaring.

I live in a small town in a late 60s Wimpy house but I'm interested in how they translate from London living to Somerset living. I would have loved to give my children that childhood.

Now watching Masterchef and I can't cook. Escapism. No one is forced to watch it.

Actually liking it. No mention of covid, seems to be on the same vein of Escape To The Country where every episode Sarah will try a new country craft. Not sure they need to build another stately home. Me and DH were aghast when they went round Rise Hall and said the cost of heating. Assuming the new house will be more energy efficient

I’ve always liked Sarah Beeny. I’m quite surprised she grew up ‘posh’ as she always seems down to earth and humble to me. Don’t forget that she worked really hard to develop her businesses and make a success. Her marriage is goals and her boys appear lovely. I do agree that the timing of the show is not great. My DH recently lost his job and this appears to be very privileged.

I like Sarah Beeny and I liked her husband when they did their last show about Rise Hall, when when I found out they didn't actually live there full time as they made out they did. What I don't like is her fake 'I don't know what we'll do if this fails' when guaranteed they've got planning already, they're just waiting for builders or whatever to get going. Of course she has a Plan B, let's make a pond, let's get two guys in a digger to just finish it and we'll build a family jetty and let our kids go wading in filthy water while we laugh merrily. I wanted to watch a programme about them building, not being so bloody smug with lambs.

Report
MiniCooperLover · 11/11/2020 22:31

Also I've read an interview with her lately where she said they both have family in Somerset so it's not quite the stab in the dark and knowing no-one she makes out ....
