Yes-me! I don't watch much on 5 but saw this advertised a few weeks ago and it looks lovely.

Hmm. I'll be comparing it to the 80's series. But I'll give it a go. I was brought up on JH books.

TitianaTitsling Tue 01-Sep-20 20:51:31

10 mins to go! Am so excited!!

EasilyDeleted Tue 01-Sep-20 20:53:31

I loved the books, which I read before it started on TV first time round so I never liked the show as it didn't live up to the books. But a few decades later I'm going to give it another try.

Toddlerteaplease Tue 01-Sep-20 21:04:25

Off to a good start. At least he's Scottish!

Toddlerteaplease Tue 01-Sep-20 21:10:03

He left Glasgow with two cases. He's lost one!

JaneJeffer Tue 01-Sep-20 21:23:35

Mrs. Hall is a lot friendlier looking.

Toddlerteaplease Tue 01-Sep-20 21:31:21

And too young! Wish they'd follow the story in the book.

I'm recording it. Hope it's good. Apparently Series 2 has already been confirmed. I know it's on at 9pm but can anyone who's watched tonights episode tell me if it's family friendly viewing. I failed to find anything about the age guidance online.

Carbon had forgotten he was coming and Mrs Hall knew nothing about him.

Toddlerteaplease Tue 01-Sep-20 21:43:04

Hmm. Not impressed.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Tue 01-Sep-20 21:53:01

They do seem to be adding extra drama, but the countryside/animals/sets are good so I'll stick with it and hope it settles down.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 01-Sep-20 21:54:33

So far it has been family friendly. It's great. But I miss the music.

Swingoutsistersledge2 Tue 01-Sep-20 21:56:42

Enjoying watch Samuel West play Cedric he is very handsome and the double of his dad .

Toddlerteaplease Tue 01-Sep-20 22:00:43

What a load of rubbish. The characters are all wrong.

BikeRunSki Tue 01-Sep-20 22:01:46

It was the original series (then the books) that led me to the job I’ve been in for nearly 20 years. I’m not a vet - that plan didn’t actually come to anything - but I do drive round the Yorkshire countryside in a 4 x 4. But this is as a result of the original TV series, so I have a great fondness for them.
I’m enjoying the new series so far.

Toddlerteaplease Tue 01-Sep-20 22:02:21

Seigfreid was eccentric but not unpleasant at all. They hit it off straight away.

BikeRunSki Tue 01-Sep-20 22:03:32

The music is at the end!!!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 01-Sep-20 22:03:48

and there's the music

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 01-Sep-20 22:05:18

happy sigh.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 01-Sep-20 22:05:52

very hard not to give spoilers to the family.

MardiBras Tue 01-Sep-20 22:06:08

The music!

I thought it was good. Nothing will replace the original tv series but this is a fair attempt.

JaneJeffer Tue 01-Sep-20 22:06:12

I enjoyed it. I'd say it's family friendly if you have no objection to cow's vaginas! (fake looking ones)

MutteringDarkly Tue 01-Sep-20 22:06:18

I enjoyed this; badly needed something soothing and to hide out in a world where things all work out in the end, so this fitted perfectly.
