Cynthia Payne thought the stories this series is based on are a load of bollocks. It's probably some middle-aged male author's wank fantasy, which he's made a lot of money from because people are really keen to believe because almost everybody loves the idea of happy hookers -

Thing about Belle de Jour is, she can write. That's what makes the blog interesting. (disclaimer: this assumes it is a she and not some saddo male journalist, but if that's the case, he can write.)

But that's not going to come over in a TV adaptation, is it? It's just going to end up as slightly classier than average porn. I'm rather sorry that Billie Piper's got involved, because up to now I've thought her choice of roles was really interesting.
