Yes, I know I'm 12 years behind the times, but Breaking Bad?

I don't generally watch a lot of TV but times have changed.

I've watched 4 episodes of Breaking Bad and at times have literally had to hold on to my stomach and watch through my fingers. I sat through Ozark earlier in lockdown and didn't much enjoy the gore and violence in that but it seemed almost trivial in comparison to what I've seen in BB so far.

But so many people say it's the best TV series ever made. Should I continue?

No Spoilers Please!

Yes, yes, yes, continue! It's fantastic.

Yes you should, it’s the best story ever. I don’t like violent programmes either but you do get more used to it. I used to sometimes go on the Breaking Bad Wiki page and read about the episode halfway through it to reduce the stress level😂

I was the same four episodes in but don't stop watching. It's a must!

Oh I wish I could go back and watch it all again “for the first time”. Its a fantastic series!

Ah, I've been meaning to watch it. I didn't realise it was that violent.
Because there's so many civilised meth dealers Hmm Blush.

It's the best thing I've ever watched. Also Better Call Saul after you've finished BB.

I’ve watched it twice over it’s so good! I don’t remember the violence you are referring to but stick with it you’ll love it.

Yes it’s great, I recently rewatched the lot - can’t believe how time has flown by though since it ended

Its the Best Ever series I have seen. Keep watching but you'll have to have someone to talk to about it as you do. And read the wiki pages after each episode.

Then watch all of Better call Saul to get the full experience.

And El Camino.

Enjoy Grin

I'm squeamish about violence but I don't remember it being particularly bad. You absolutely must keep watching it though. You've only just started! It's amazing! Wait til you get into it properly.

It's brilliant. Before giving it a go, I had been the biggest cynic when everyone was raving about it, thinking "Stop going on about Breaking Bad, it can't be that good!". Oh it can!

Report
APJ1 · 12/06/2020 22:07

As for the violence, there were maybe four instances at most that are not good for squeamish people.

PuppyMonkey · 12/06/2020 22:07

Ah, four episodes in. I envy you OP.

Proceed.

I've just started watching it too OP! I like it so far but I too heard loads of hype about it being the best TV series ever and it's okay but not AS good as I was expecting, I actually found a couple of episodes seem very slow (episode 2 for example?). But will continue watching!

I cried when it ended. I felt slightly bereaved. Amazing show.

Breaking bad is the best show ever, except maybe the wire.

I loved BB and am not great with violence but didn’t find it that bad. One or two scenes I guess...

AntennaReborn · 12/06/2020 23:07

I stuck with it through 2 seasons then completely lost interest. It wasn't terrible, but I really didn't understand the hype. I don't remember it being particularly violent though

Yes! I only discovered it a year ago (whilst at home with a newborn DS!) it lasted me a couple of weeks of binging!

Has anyone watched the movie? I couldn’t get into it but wondering if I should try again

Just carry on with it, honestly.

You'll end up hating characters you like now, and you'll end up rooting for characters you used to despise.

There are a few 'duff' episodes, that's for sure, but overall it is still the best, truest storyline, with the most unambiguous ending and it is rightfully lauded as a TV classic

I nearly gave up after the first three episodes and I only persevered because DH was enjoying it.
I am so grateful that I did - it is hands down the best series I have ever seen (and I’ve watched a lot of box sets). It just gets better and better. Don’t give up op!

We are currently up to date with Better Call Saul and eagerly awaiting the next (and I think final) series.

We enjoyed El Camino but it wasn’t amazing. But it is still a must for any BB fans.

I got quite far in, several series in, but there was one scene that turned my stomach so much, I realised I was stressed about watching it, so stopped! I never saw the ending.

I agree, keep on watching! I came to it late and was mesmerised. With me it was certain characters who put me behind the sofa, as soon as I saw them I would be on tenterhooks of terrified anticipation. When the same characters suddenly re-appeared in Better Call Saul , after I thought they were safely disposed of I was put into a state of deja vu shock. So naughty of the scriptwriters!
