New dram series starts tonight on bbc 1

With only hours left to deliver a draft of a book to her publishers , writer Arabella is tempted into a night out with a friend ........

the series is set in London and centers around the story of a young woman who must rebuild her life after her drink is spiked with a date rape drug

I watched the first two episodes tonight. It is such a good drama, I am feeling quite impatient to watch the rest of the episodes. The scenes with Arabella in the police station were so powerful. I did find some of it difficult to watch because of the subject matter, but it is so brilliantly done.

What did you think of the first few episodes, OP?

I loved the first two episodes. Michaela Coel is so damn talented.

I thought this was fascinating and disturbing in equal measure. Made me glad to be mid 40s and in a relationship. Great drama and a scary insight into the landscape my kids are going to have to navigate in relationships. All those apps! Such easy sex! How does anyone ever actually fall in love when they have to put so little effort in? (I know thats not millennial-specific, I often think this when in the relationships board on here, all those poor women whose husbands are cheating via app) Glad I dont have to deal with it.

It's excellent and like the slightly off kilter feeling it gives.

Just watched the first two episodes on iPlayer and wish they'd dropped the whole series. Going to be hard to wait week by week.
Michaela Coel is so talented. Chewing Gum was groundbreaking back in the day.
Interested to see how/if Arabella manages to piece together the chunk missing from her night.
What a scumbag Simon is! Hope he gets his just deserts.
Terri's audition scene was so cringe. When they asked her to take off her wig... jeez...

Good to wait week by week 😛😛

Police station scene was well done

Simon 😡😡😡

I watched both last night.
Having accompanied young people during Police station scene, I thought it was accurate, and well done.

The good camera work adds to the 'off kilter' feeling too.

I think I will wait until it is all avail then watch in 2 chunks, as I did with 'Ordinary People'.

Only saw the last few mins so no idea if Simon is alright/not alright - I assume from a poster he is not. . I think it is on next Monday so will try to watch then.

The girl that Michaela went to I think she also intimated that she had had her drink spiked but was ok?? Did I get that right? She was defending Simon I think.

I wanted to like this as I loved Micheala Coel in Black Earth Rising but I hated the soundtrack. I'm an oldie though don't usually have a problem but this was just too much for me. Shame.

Watched this last night. It was really good - the police interview bit really got to me.

All the young women in the clinic, just upsetting.

"The girl that Michaela went to I think she also intimated that she had had her drink spiked but was ok?? Did I get that right? She was defending Simon I think."
Yes, that's right. Her flat mates thought she was spiked. But lost it when Arabella hinted it was Simon she got agressive. Which was odd!

I can’t decide whether Simon was being cagey because Arabella was asking questions in front of his girlfriend and he wanted to cover up his activities with Alissa, who we found out he had been secretly seeing for six months, or whether he is involved somehow in what happened to Arabella.

I think the latter. He was avoiding calls from her mobile but picked up when Terry called him. I reckon Alissa knows and that is why she went off on one when Arabella showed up at her flat.

It is good, and I will carry on watching.

Been avoiding this as love Michaela Cole and it's based on what happened to her, but guess for her sake I need to watch it if you see what I mean

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 11/06/2020 23:31

but I hated the soundtrack

I loved the music. And the camera work. And the constant eating. Though no one should ever mash plantain and pinto beans together! Just wrong.

Pinpoint accuracy and appealing characters - I'm looking forward to the next ten episodes.
