Just started again on Netflix, 1st episode today, another tomorrow and then weekly. It's a bit agonising to have to wait between episodes but I prefer it - makes me appreciate it more!

Good first episode I thought - I was suprised that he gave in to the guy in the shopping mall. Anyone else watched?

Yes , it's agonising waiting and my husband always says 'and nothing happened in this episode again ' it's real slow watching when you are used to more action based tv but he still makes me wait to watch with him

We're going to wait until the whole series has run before watching, so we have the option to binge! I'm going to have to mute this thread now, aren't I...

I love this show!

Really interesting that they finally confirmed who Gene is. (There were lots of theories floating around that Gene is apparently Walter White!)

LittleRootie · 02/03/2020 20:43

But we've known since the beginning of Better Call Saul that Gene is his new identity?

Got all ready to watch the 3rd episode and forgot they come out on tuesday..arrgghh! Angry

Apparently they have confirmed that series 6 will be the final one.

3rd episode was excellent, i'm just a bit gutted that i accidentally knew about the BB reveal. Great pacing anyway, really subtle and loved the beginning with the discarded ice-cream and the scene with Nacho's papa. It's small scenes like that which make it so special

Anyone else get the feeling something bad is going to happen to Kim...?

Thanks for reminding me it's Tuesday!

I hope nothing bad happens to Kim, I will be pretty annoyed if it does.
Jimmy is getting into darker and darker territory and Kim is trying to go the other way, doing her Pro Bono work and getting steadily more disillusioned with Mesa Verde so I would expect the final break to be some sort of continuance of that process.

Thing is, as Bob Odenkirk points out in we don't know anything about Saul's private life in BB-we only see him in relation to the other characters so we don't even know that Kim isn't still in his life (but Odenkirk doesn't think so).

Yes I am always worried about Kim! She always seems like she is on the edge of a breakdown, really like her character so hope nothing bad happens to her. This weeks episode was even better!

I suppose I should have put 'spoilers' in the title so we could talk about what happens in the episodes!

I thought it was very interesting in the Odenkirk youtube vid that he said the character of Mike was only introduced to BB to fill a gap - Odenkirk wasn't available for all the filming and they needed someone as a link between Gus and Walter. The writing of characters is so strong and the casting so canny that viewers instantly latched on to Mike as well.

It's such good writing to make you feel sorry for Mike even though it was ultimately his choice to kill Werner. It makes you understand how people get themselves into such terrible situations that killing someone seems the least damaging choice - if Mike had refused to kill Werner Gus would have had him killed and left his DIL and GD alone and vulnerable.

And yes, Kim does seem vulnerable even while coming across as strong and decisive. She is being made even more vulnerable by the situation Jimmy/Saul is getting into

It makes me want to watch Breaking Bad again! Can't imagine Breaking Bad without Mike though, so strange to think he wasn't even going to be in it...

Yes this thread definitely needs a spoiler warning I think!

I think either something bad is going to happen to Kim and/or he is going to betray her. Maybe the planning permission scam comes back to bite them on the arse and he lets her take the fall? Don't even know why I am trying to second guess the writers they are amazing

Something is definitely going to happen to Kim. We think it will be Jimmy’s fault albeit unintentionally.

We’ve watched breaking bad 3 times now. I think we’re going for one more when the final series of bcs finishes (and will prob watch the whole lot of them again before that!)

Pretty much every other series is a disappointment.

(By series I mean box set) nothing compares!

Love it, and yes, it's a bit sad knowing that Jimmy and Kim will be coming to an end - I can't imagine she would be with him in his BB time, he's gone way too far down the route he's started on here. In BB he did mention something about a couple of ex-wives I seem to remember.

Just bumping for this weeks! Did anyone understand what the bowling balls were all about? Not a spoiler fyi!

Report
LittleRootie · 10/03/2020 22:50

Probably don't have to worry too much about the spoilers - doesn't seem to be much traffic..Confused

I was a bit bemused about the bowling ball thing - it was classic bcs though, starting the show with something very random and off-topic. Seems that he just wanted something heavy enough to swing over the high gate and do some damage?

As to why he wanted to...I think it's a mixture of his anger about the way he was treated by H&H, anger still at Chuck, guilt about Chuck etc

Howard's numberplate suggests he's trying to right some wrongs he's done, eg by making the offer to Jimmy and perhaps Jimmy feels Howard shouldn't be using him to assuage guilt?

As ever, there's plenty of interpretations!

I wish they would have more of the present-day stuff in each episode otherwise i'll lose the thread of it again.

I love Better Call Saul, in fact (dare I say!) I prefer it to BB.
I've seen that twice now and probably need to watch all of BCS again before watching BB for the 3rd time Grin

I think I prefer it to BB too!

I do like Howard for all his faults I think he is a good guy deep down or at least tries to be

Anyone seen this weeks?

I'm confused with what's happening with Kim, it's like she is self destructing! Feels like there is this whole back story with her that we'll never know!

I think the story with Kim is following a pattern to be fair. She's always had the conflict between working her way up to be high-flyer in corporate law and, on the other hand, wanting to use the law to help people. Way back in the first series we saw her going along with some of Jimmy's old scams just for the thrill.

I suppose also she's seeing her limitations - she tried to get through to Mr Acker by telling him the truth about her upbringing but Acker just sees her as yet another corporate asshole. She also failed to persuade Kevin to build his call centre elsewhere so she's had to resort to Jimmy's tactics. It's too early for a big showdown yet but I worry about her same as everyone seems to!
