Loving the new rules!

Agree. A bit more authentic. Couldn't do it, myself!

Don’t think I’d like my handbag tipped out for the world to see manky tissues etc.

Love Merv, but there are too many gaps - how did Hayley and gymidiot get an initial rucksack and from Bristol to Wigan??? How did they all end up at mates?

Otherwise, loving it as ever.

Not keen on the couple from Wigan. He is very cocky

Those eyelashes don't look like they should be on the run.

Go Mervyn!
I was cross at that miserable couple in the cafe who not only said they had seen him but gave away his plans.

I was wondering how the gym couple got so far and so fast. I am on the side of the hunted generally but a teeny bit of me did hope he would get caught in the gym because he was being such a cocky git and then his wife carried on and did it by herself.

Also cross with the couple in the cafe who gave away his plans. Hope they don’t catch him first, he’s lovely.

Oh yes the couple in the cafe were horrible. And just when mervyn praised the helpfulness of the general public

Another one rooting for Merv, he's great, I hope he can get to the end without being caught. Drying his pants over the open fire Grin

It's about time a pensioner outwitted them. All of the other older participants have been demonstrations of how out of touch they are.

I think the couple in the age must currently be two of the most disliked people on the UK Grin

We were left totally bemused by how the couple managed to get rucksacks, and managed to get from Bristol to Wigan, without any of that being shown. It's a little bit more than a 10-mile hike from Bristol to Wigan.

I’ve just watched this on catch up and really enjoyed it.

Also rooting for Mervyn and a bit frustrated with the mysterious 180 mile trip from Bristol to Wigan not being explained.

Is there a limit to how much money they can take out at a time? I’d have gone for more than £100.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/02/2020 11:38

Yes, annoying that the journey to Wigan wasn’t explained.

I so wanted the cocky gym to get caught. What a big head!. How did they get to Wigan?!
Mervyn is excellent. He reminds of Timothy west. Really like him. The miserable couple in the cafe, not so much.

Dm and I were discussing what we would do . And we decided we'd actually stay in a big city where other friends and family had links and use their friends if friends. Basically hiding in plain sight. There's too many CCTV for the hunters to keep an eye on. If they ask people if they've seen us then chances are they'd have forgotten or didn't really clock us. So incidents like cafe couple don't happen. Stay in the house as much as possible and if needed to go walk everywhere.

So what are the rules this year? I gave up on series 2 because the rules seemed to give the hunted a massive disadvantage (maybe because they outwitted the hunters too easily in series 1)?

No cash, no bags - just the clothes on their backs.

Blimey, so it's got even more one-sided?

I think the Hunters also got told where the contestants were being dropped off this time (in such an isolated spot!!) and it seemed even more weighted in favour of the Hunters as they had the helicopter up really quickly.

Don't they have to move a certain distance so no chance of hiding out in a place with no CCTV?

Report
Waspnest · 19/02/2020 17:51

I think if I was on it and being paid I'd just wait where they dropped me and when the hunters immediately turned up I'd say 'yay, thought I'd save us both some time since I didn't really stand a hope in hell did I?'.

All the newer rules make it sound a bit crap to me really.

I just find it all so set up and so difficult for the fugitives these days. They’ll say something and you know 2 seconds later the hunters will ‘find out’ that exact piece of information. Also, there’s obviously rules about making contact with family (as even the really switched on ones do it and they just wouldn’t if left to their own devices), only staying in one place for a certain length of time (otherwise I’d just go and hide in someone’s attic!) and how much money they can take out at once.

I’m routing for Merv though as he seems brilliant and we’re from the same town. I did actually see someone hitchhiking at the end of our bypass in summer, I’ll be devastated if it turns out to be him and I didn’t pick him up!
