Just caught up then realised the thread was full.

Sister Monica joan’s flowers.

Cried like a seal.

My garden didn’t bloom and for me the sunshine failed. My buds were perfect but not for here.

And the hairy bud who grew and blossomed in my care soaked up the love.

Missing the three of you more than you know. X

@NumbersStation Thanks

That's so sad @NumbersStation. Are you okay?

I think a one-off retro one would be great (maybe coinciding with Sister MJ shuffling off this mortal coil?).

Agree that Trixie is 'on the shelf' really. Mid 30s and not a whiff of romance for a couple of years... She is really too upper class for Poplar.

Just catching up as only just watched Sunday's episode.

💐 for those of you who have lost babies.

I thought the episode was handled with sensitivity, I held it together until Lucille put the photo and flowers down in Sister Monica's garden.

I would have thought the best arrangement all round for May was an open adoption type arrangement where by her mum could have some contact with her and the Turners could send letters and photos periodically. It would no doubt benefit May in the long run to have a connection to her biological mum and Chinese heritage. Dr turners awful acting was particularly awful this episode I thought.

I had pethidine when I had gallstones in pregnancy! It was amazing stuff and I can see how easy it would be to get addicted to it. From what I've heard of heroin is very similar.

I wondered if there was going to be an issue with the young nurse fancying the new Dr....

Thank you both. Aye I’m ok. It just caught me off guard. It was a lifetime ago but sometimes it feels like days.

I thought sister mj’s garden was a beautiful idea and the words at the end made me wobble a bit.

I’m hoping Val gets the new doc rather than Trixie. But I want love for Phyllis more.

This series it's like the person who writes the ongoing storyline phoned in sick.

Numbers it’s hard isn’t it? Flowers

IIRC in the books Trixie married a diplomat?

Aww I like Dr Turner

I wondered if the young nun was attracted to the new doctor, but guess that would be the Dr Turner-Shelagh storyline all over again.

Report
Ohfrigginghellers · 12/02/2020 09:41

Ooh yes but it would be a good storyline

NumbersStation Flowers despite the copious opportunities the script and some of the acting gives us for pisstaking, there are still little pockets of plot that resonate with us.

I think a pp on the other thread is on to something with the contraceptive pill being used to ease the nun’s dysmenorrhea.

Trixie’s godmother will have to be played by some grand doyenne of the acting world and be impossibly glamorous!

Tiara Flowers

I haven’t read the books - I will take the shame. It would be nice to see Trixie happy - she always seems quite pinched to me.

I’m not quite sure who could play the Portofino godmother but seeing she is being mentioned with increasing regularity, I’m wondering if she will pop up soon. The script writer who has bobbed off on an extended holiday certainly mentioned her in the memo left behind for the new writer! I’d love to see our Joan do it.

They can’t do wee nun and the doc - there is only room on this earth for one teal kitchen. Smile

I love this programme. I know it can be predictable and give you the chinny reckon on a regular basis but often it gets through to the little pink bit in my black and gnarled heart and it touches me. That wee photo in the pot...

Joanna Lumley would make a glamourous godmother and has the right RP accent for the role :-)

I do hope not, I can't stand Joanna Lumley's style of tv presenting much as I agree about the accent I wouldn't want to see her in CTM.

They could wheel Cher in like they did in Mamma Mia Grin
It will be just as pointless, but would add a certain joie de vivre to Poplar!

Patricia Hodge as the godmother maybe?

Saucery · 12/02/2020 15:42

As I don’t think they’ve specified what nationality Godmother is, that is a fab idea, Buzz Grin
Would she approve of the creeping teal glow cast over everyone, though? I’m guessing not.

You say Joanna Lumley, I see Patsy. Sweetie darling and nuns? Not for me Grin

Maybe Celia Imrie? Helen Mirren?

Somebody who could have beautifully clipped tones, can carry themselves beautifully and waft about Poplar like their deposits left no odour. Smile

The new doctor was seen looking shifty around the controlled drugs cupboard (or a cupboard anyway!) in the preview for next week. He's either got a bit of a problem himself, or Sister Frances is now a raging crackhead due to her (previously unmentioned) traumatic monthlies and he's enabling her big-time.

I wonder if Helen George is on the same salary now, when she has about five lines per episode, as in the earlier series when she was front and centre so often. When was the last time we even saw Trixie at a delivery?
