New thread for second series of Hidden.

Shown 4 days in advance on BBC Wales, so anyone watching on BBC4 should watch out for spoilers between tues-sat each week. Unless you want to start a separate thread!

Link to BBC web page where Series 1 is available on line www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p066st1w. Assume series 2 will become available online.

The Welsh language version on this was shown last summer, so if you watched it please dont post any spoilers!! Thanks smile

So little happens in each episode that I am finding it a bit boring.

Also it's so depressing to watch. Everyone seems to look grubby and like they could do with a good wash (and their clothes). Also the houses are so horrible. Surely it's not filmed in real houses with all that ancient wallpaper?

Yes I think series 1 was also very slow paced.

And yes, some of the people and places in it are very bleak.

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 08-Mar-20 20:11:44

Anyone watching last nights then ?

stumbledin Mon 09-Mar-20 17:02:51

I watched it on the tuesday. It moved the plot along, but as I posted the next day getting a bit frustrated that it seems to have this theme that these bad / failing mothers are causing these feral youths.

And it is very dispiriting to think that however these young people turned out how they are, that innocent people (especially the vulnerable) pay the price.

Also police dont seem to be very good at getting info. Surely some people in the local community must have had some idea about this group of 3.

But on the other hand they seem to get themselves to school each day?!

Yes I thoight that about the gang of 3

And murderers again sad

stumbledin Wed 11-Mar-20 17:39:55

I watched last night and wont say too much about plot development for those watching on saturdays.

But am now being irritated by the lead detective. She always seems to be mooning around, getting sentimental about her dad, but is basically a detatched observer of her family.

I have actually counted, but I think the ratio of good / long suffering dads, to bad / uncaring mothers is getting out of hand.

(Have to admit this has been so depressing that I gave myself a holiday from gloom and despondency and watched McDonald and Dodds. Not as crass as Midsummer Murders and interesting dynamic between a youngish go getter female boss from London who is partnered with an end of career older man hopelessly out of step with modern policing. And Bath is lovely)

Think it’s only us who watch and we both watch tue

No one replied last night

Panicmode1 Sun 15-Mar-20 18:14:12

I've watched Ep 5 - so I think there is one more?

I am only watching because I want to understand why the first murder happened, but it's SO bleak and depressing. And yes, Cadi is irritating me now......

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 15-Mar-20 22:22:26

I think the girl is just a nutter. Yes abused but doesn’t mean she has to go round killing people

stumbledin Mon 16-Mar-20 13:24:30

I think the first murder happened because the trio were just being as shitty as they always are, and because the one who had remorse was being bullied by them and it all went to far.

Could never work out why he went round with them.

I'm watching too, stumbledin wink I'm slightly wearied by the inevitability of the 'tecs finally putting 2 and 2 together with two episodes to go. It's feeling much more formulaic this time round. Although I'll be watching the denouement on Sat.

Pilcrow Tue 17-Mar-20 10:16:55

Should have said I'm watching too to blondeshavemorefun as well

I've been watching this too. I'm finding it heavy going for all the reasons already stated on the thread but I'm stubborn so I'm sticking with it grin.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 17-Mar-20 21:37:07

I was not concentrating 100% on the last episode. Is anyone able to give me a quick summary at all?

What was the reference by Mia to Cadi's father?

Thanks!

stumbledin Sun 22-Mar-20 21:46:00

Sharpkat - your question reminded me I hadn't seen the whole episode having fallen asleep.

So watched the last half and what I think is this. The second series is only a few months after the close of the last series. And although I cant remember the plot properly from the first series, there was not only the crime but the fact that there had been some sort of cover up. And Cadi's dad was implicated.

Presumably this all, or some of it became public knowledge. So Mia was just insulting Cadi by not only implying she wasn't any good at her job but that her father was worse and complicit in crime. Part of the who do you think you are thinking you can question me / have a superior attitude.

I am not sure, what with falling asleep the first time and only starting half way through the second time, if any explanation was every given as to why Mia was the way she was. Evidently she had been like this for some time and somehow persuaded others to follow her.

And in the meantime apparently doing okay in school?!

And appeared to be saying going to prison wouldn't be a problem as she always made friends where ever she was.

But it was all very slow. And somehow just didn't really seem to work.

Or hard to be engaged when every body seemed to awful or apathetic.

Thanks @stumbledin I missed the first series so this helps!

workshy44 Tue 24-Mar-20 13:52:28

I missed the final episode, what happened to Conor, will he go down?

I felt really sorry for him

stumbledin Tue 24-Mar-20 14:03:32

workshy see www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000gk67

And then you can explain it to me as I still dont really get it!

Sharpkat Tue 24-Mar-20 18:02:57

@stumbledin I have managed to rewatch it and am still confuzzled!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 07-Apr-20 16:39:58

Glad I wasn’t the only one confused

Just seen last episode. Thought I had seen it till saw pages down on planner

But still confused

Conor is ok yah

Mia got sent down

And the other one ?

stumbledin Tue 07-Apr-20 17:23:08

I thought the last shot of Conor was him crying as he was being charged in the police station.

And the other one also got charged didn't he?

I'm not sure that it is confusing just not very convincing.

Young girl / woman with a shitty home life goes well at school but picks on those weaker than her to torment and bully, and push into doing terrible things.

Two young men seem to be totally terrified of her and the go out and about to do mischief one of which ends in murder.

Just dont believe people in the community wouldn't have had some idea about them / her.

But I suppose for the plot devious they had to show them behaving badly while the police plodded along.

Or maybe it was just to show that some people lead reallyl shitty lives.
