Oh dear, meet my wife he said ... Morse broken-hearted again
Any one else think it s the Italian guy who is the murderer? He is very sinister and has too many teeth
I am sure the actor who played the guilty professor has been in Morse and Lewis as well, but I didn’t catch his name in the credit.
And Liar is back soon!

JaneJeffer · 09/02/2020 22:05

Can't wait for Liar!

I was beginning to think that guy, Ludo?, fancied Morse!

Now I think he knows what happened with his wife though.

I think you are right Jane, maybe he is after him, and Morse is going to be in trouble going by the first scene with blood on his shirt.

Haven't watched it yet, so placemarking. ;-) Going to Oxford for a few days in the summer so hoping to do a bit of a Morse/Lewis/Endeavour tour.

Who clocked Abigail Thaw's journo being introduced to "Sally Alexander"? SA being Abigail's mother, John Thaw's first wife and a feminist historian who went to Ruskin.

Fabulous touch.

Great ending!
Roger Allam had some great lines, particularly when Winn asked him where he would keep his canaries!

Report
Arseaboutdarkly · 10/02/2020 14:16

Hmm, I didn't like that bit about the canaries. They've ruined them as a couple without any benefit to the series - it was good early on to have their happy family life contrasting with Morse's essential solitary nature.

Missed the first half hour so didn't see what happened with the italian woman. I also thought they were deliberately setting us up to think the oxford acquaintence was gay and fancied him. Maybe it's a double bluff and he does fancy him? Morse wants the wife, the wife actually loves the husband but the husband is secretly gay and wants Morse..

It feels played out to me - the ridiculous scene with the tie strangling and Morse etc bursting in, followed by interrogation, just really lazy writing

Can someone explain the end to me? Who slashed the flasher?

re Thaw family ties, apparently it was Abigail Thaw's daugher, ie Sally Alexander's grand daughter who played her in that scene!

I think the Thursday marriage breakdown is being really well done. I loved the scene with Fred struggling to butter the bread he's so used to Winifed doing everything Grin

I thought the flasher was the chef at the club and the slasher was the girl who worked there / had visions... but was watching on cold and flu meds so might have imagined that!

Report
stumbledin · 10/02/2020 16:28

At first I thought it was the young woman with ESP but then thought why was she walking along with a long blade.

Unless her visions meant she had got a glimpse of who the flasher was and thought she would face up to him? Confused

Did anyone actually admit to killing the first dead woman? I thought the killer denied it but they were acting like they'd solved it. I never understood what she had to do with the science crew. Was she doing card guessing as well as ESP barmaid?

I love the way the young Morse’s required love life is being portrayed in the series.
In the original Morse there were always hints of lost lovers. I look for hints and links that refer to the future ( original series.)
The casting of the pathologist, James Bradshaw, he really looks like a young version of the older one.

Yy @2Rebecca I’m still confused on who did what & why.
