I read This Life but brain thought That’s Life. Was thinking it was a bit odd to repeat a show from the 80’s about clever pets and misspelled signs, but would probably watch it.

Mildly disappointed now.

I wasn't that surprised by Millie cheating, more with who she cheated. O'Donnell (or was it O'Connell?) wasn't in the least bit attractive!

Looking at wikipedia and reading between the lines, Daniela Nardini had a child around 2008/2009. We know what can happen to a woman's work life at that point, whether as a choice or a partial choice or not.

Ohyesiam Sun 02-Feb-20 22:10:36

I think I saw this once.
Young professionals doing lots of E, and people having ugly sex on a balcony after a night out?

OldHarrysGameboy Sun 02-Feb-20 22:11:21

Ah fair play then if she's busy elsewhere.

Btw to the poster who said 16 years had passed - try 24 🤣🤣😮

Gazelda Sun 02-Feb-20 22:12:20

The punch at the wedding was awesome!

thereplycamefromanchorage Sun 02-Feb-20 22:18:20

Loved this, can't wait. Anyone else liked the Scottish plumber?

turnedabout Sun 02-Feb-20 22:18:23

Yes Millie punching that girl was brilliant

Ferdi and his beautiful long hair ....

Whatsnewpussyhat Sun 02-Feb-20 22:28:41

Egg was a perpetual child and milly was a stuck up cow!

Jack Davenport has been Miles in every role he has played since.

topcat2014 Sun 02-Feb-20 22:38:13

Another one here who was disappointed professional life did not turn out like this!

HorseFlyOfExtraordinaryLength Sun 02-Feb-20 22:43:02

Daniela Nardini's family owned a famous ice cream parlour in Largs.
Happy memories
I loved This Life too!

MadamePewter Sun 02-Feb-20 22:44:36

Oh, so weird! I was just talking about this last week when I heard Portishead

Thesunrising Sun 02-Feb-20 22:47:25

I watched re-runs of this about 10 years ago. It had aged badly even then. Loved it the first time round, second time round all the characters were just self absorbed and irritating. But maybe that’s the point...

OldHarrysGameboy Sun 02-Feb-20 22:49:04

I was actually living in a houseshare in London when this came out. Their experience was entirely inconsistent with mine. For starters they didn't have a spare wardrobe in the hallway that the landlord refused to get rid of and also their sofa wasn't a weird shape and made entirely of wood and hessian.

MadamePewter Sun 02-Feb-20 22:49:52

My young professional life as a lawyer was scarily like this 😂😂

MintChocAddict Sun 02-Feb-20 23:46:22

Daniela Nardini was in the pilot episode of a BBC Scotland comedy called Two Doors Down a few years back. She was brilliant in it but her character wasn't in the subsequent series'. Looking forward to revisiting This Life smile

Dolorabelle Sun 02-Feb-20 23:52:35

Ooooooooooooo - brings back so many memories of the 90s. Loved that programme. Anna and Millie!!

WeeBitSleepy Sun 02-Feb-20 23:56:02

Loved this so much first time round, but I’m still scarred from the reunion special. Let’s not discuss that.

Sporty99 Mon 03-Feb-20 00:01:10

Thanks op I would've missed it without this thread

I loved it the first time round.

AlunWynsKnee Mon 03-Feb-20 00:03:03

I was a bit in love with Warren. Pointlessly obviously.

Chienloup Mon 03-Feb-20 00:32:16

Anna was my template for life in my 20s. I even had a flat in Southwark, and of course a series of self-loathing relationships with inappropriate men, whilst really just wanting to be with my friend.

Warren and his shrink! Egg and his novel. Miles and his refusal to grow up. Milly and her perfect front. Anna and her acid tongue. Kira who is played by Luisa Bradshaw White and plays the exact same character in EastEnders. (I stood in the coat check queue behind her at Popstarz one night in about 1999)! Oh and sweet lovely Joe, too innocent for his crush Anna.

Did anyone see This Life +10? I'd love another follow-up.

Chienloup Mon 03-Feb-20 00:33:44

We were not all self-absorbed and irritating at 23, Thesunrising? I know I bloody was! But, my God, it was fun!

JustPutThemBackAfterwards Mon 03-Feb-20 01:13:46

OMG! So pleased about this.

I missed seeing it right from the start, first time round, so can't wait for tonight.

Absolutely cracking theme tune too!

southeastdweller Mon 03-Feb-20 08:48:20

Looking forward to this as well. Can't believe it's been 24 years!
