Jason Bateman stars and directs. 2 episodes aired tonight. Have watched the 1st. Was excellent. Very chilling. What are people’s thoughts?

Love Jason Bateman and BM. Ci was genuinely spooked throughout both episodes. Can’t wait to watch the remainder of the series. If I can stomach it. Very creepy.

It’s on planner to watch

Watched both episodes, really enjoyed it, found it all quite tense and a bit creepy, the filming style reminded me a bit of True Detective.

Also watching, really enjoying it. Are we gonna theorise here on the thread (obv no proper spoilers) or not? Grin

Watching tonight. First time I've been properly excited for a series in a long time!

The book is excellent...I didn't realise we could watch it on Sky Atlantic. I thought it was just another TV show that I'd have to wait forever to be available over here!

I’m watching ep 2 now and I’m feeling a mixture of confusion/terror/creeped out. This has gripped me more than true detective s3 did. When is episode 3 available?

Report
RedRiverShore · 16/01/2020 15:16

Episode 3 is 2am Monday morning

I'm watching and I'm intrigued so far, couldn't even guess how this will pan out.

I’ve read a lot of Stephen King but never read this so I have no idea.

I wouldn’t mind exchanging theories?! Shall we??!

Deffo has same vibe as the first True Detective.

I enjoyed it, it had a nice sense of menace. I've read the book so know what's occuring, no spoilers though!

I’m guessing it’s something like the hooded guy with the weird face is able to take on other peoples identities. And perhaps the cut that Jason Bateman got from the nurse at his fathers care home is somehow linked?

My guess is that his information was somehow "cloned" from the cut, and the shadowy guy was at that point acting out a clone of the nurse (as we know his face is very identifiable as it appears in the cloak).

I've been wracking my brains for a mythical/paranormal creature that does this - I'm sure I've seen it somewhere before but can't think of it...! An old x files maybe?

Rollergirl11 · 16/01/2020 19:38

Yeah DH said he thought there might have been an X files similar.

It was very unsettling. I really enjoyed it but was quite creepy in places...

I’m sure something happened in Fringe with cloning, bits of that were a bit like this.

Loved it, although I read the book last year so I know the plot.

Can't wait to see what else they do with it next.

Watched the first episode and it's brilliant very dark, creepy just up my street reminded me of True Detective which I loved!

Report
Findumdum1 · 16/01/2020 23:54

i watched both and enjoyed them, but nowhere near the league of true detective s1 for me. No emotional resonance. Noone seemed that sad that people died.

Anyway, onto theories, the hooded guy is some kind of aberation/monster/alien who "feeds" on death/grief.

BorneoBabe · 17/01/2020 11:32

It's a bit slow, and the lead detective's lisp is driving me mad, but enjoying it so far.

Seen 1&2

It’s good tho Shame he died now policemen has to prove his innocence

Who was the shooter/young boy ?

Working tonight so will watch hopefully 3 tomorow

Report
Rollergirl11 · 20/01/2020 21:52

The lad that shot abc killed Terry Maitland was the older brother of the boy that Terry killed and whose Mum also died.

Just watched the 3rd episode. It’s very very good but deeply creepy and unsettling! I’ll wait till others post before saying anything!

Hence why the dad then tried to kill his self

But did terry kill the boy ? He denied it. Was seen miles away

So some kind of clone / x files
