Thanks Kannet

The pub seems to have developed the Soap phenomenon of expanding walls. I'm pretty sure when Fabrice (Jenny's french boyfriend) wanted to stay at the pub, Alec said he could have "the spare room." Alec also stayed in "the spare room" when he had fallen out with Bet. However, we now have Bet, Raquel and Vicky all with their own room and Vicky's new boyfriend being offered the small back bedroom to stay in overnight.

I've never understood the layout of the living area at the Rovers. The building is the same size upstaira and downstairs when you look at it from the street. If that's the case the first floor footprint would be the same as the bar/living room/kitchen - absolutely massive - or am I missing something glaringly obvious

I am liking the Maud Grimes equity release plot. I think she is a very plausible character - tough but vulnerable. It was an awful thing to do to Maureen, who has basically sacrificed so much of her life for her mother, but you can see how she felt bullied and scared and backed into a corner. She is putting on a brave face but genuinely distrusts Reg and fears being put into a home or locked away in the tiny annex.

Mavis and Derek are also brilliant. The story line about Derek missing the coach, falling asleep at school, the burglary, the consequences, his wallowing in self-pity and taking it out on Mavis, are classic Corrie. The tragedy and the disappointments of everyday life and relationships. But everybody just gets on with it, as what are the alternatives?

Yes the story between Maureen and Maud is good, but how long was Maud,s mortgage for? Maureen been paying it for 25 years every month she did and presumably Maud and her husband lived there before and were paying it is it a never ending mortgage Confused

I'd forgotten the Maud/equity release thing. It was so sad when Maud told Maureen she could manage perfectly well on her own and Maureen said 'you could have told me that 23 years ago' Sad

I've got to catch up. I'm a few weeks behind. I believe that it all started to go wrong in (the lady who played) ivy's life at this point. I've watched a few scenes with her in and I can tell the woman is smashed.

justthecat well spotted, Mandy Dingle, so young! But why is Bettabuys taking on more staff when they have just made Maureen and others redundant?

Maureen is daffy but I do feel sorry for her. Maud should think on about her dd's happiness but Reggie would be a hard pill to swallow.

Loving Tanya's outfits. I remember dressing like that, floaty long viscose skirts and comfy loose long tops and cardis.

Yes I said on the other thread Ivy always seems half cut to me ,she sounds like she's slurring her words , I believe her son was diagnosed with Aids at this time ,well it said Aids in the article I read so I'm not sure wether it was HIV+ or Aids ? And if course there was the episode of The Word she appeared on!

Lynne Perrie’s autobiography is fascinating. She was - at that time- in a joyless marriage, her son had been diagnosed with HIV, she wasn’t getting on with Geoff Hinsliff. I can see why she went off the rails. She clearly thought that she was pals with lots of her colleagues, but I read that Helen Worth and Warren Jackson were the only cast members who turned up to her funeral. In fairness, she wasn’t very nice about a lot of them - she loathed Chloe Newsome, she disparaged Elizabeth Dawn’s marriage, bitched about Betty Driver, criticised Warren Jackson for not mentoring newbie kids, criticised Kevin Kennedy’s looks, and alleged that Julie Goodyear had wanted to have a fling with her. An explosive book.

Steve has aged five years overnight.

Would the estate agent/solicitor not have checked that the Holdsworths were authorised to sell the house? Is that not something they do? I haven’t moved for nearly 20 years but I recall having to provide lots of paperwork.

Eva Pope left to have her daughter in “94 I think. We’ll only be seeing shots of her behind the bar and sitting at the table, soon! Great character, well acted, I’ll miss her.

I loathe Maud. Selfish. I can’t drum up much sympathy. Another well-acted character though. I like her scenes with Percy.

conofcall interesting. Seems mean to call out the child cators (Chloe and Warren)

What is happening at Deirdre's? I know she reportedly had to suddenly go look after her mother, are TraceyLuv ad Craig living it large in her house?
