Does anyone (else) find the MFI adverts really really awful and depressing and unnecessary?

The ones where people 'make themselves at home' in the MFI showroom by having the most vitriolic, shouty, downright NASTY rows with one another...

I'm finding them really winceworthy. I certainly wouldn't feel happy if the dds saw them. Why can't they use the same premise with a more humorous /lighthearted script? Is it just me??

Yes have just watched the one with the Chinese couple in it and it is grim

No it's not just you, I went into a 'the state of society' rant when I saw them. Why is aggressive, impolite, uncaring and just plain nasty behaviour encouraged and reinforced constantly?

I really feel lots of popular culture is alien to my view of the world. I work with small chldren and constantly encourage them to share, to care, to empatise with others. All of this is undermined for the sake of entertainment.

At least I know why I don't watch much TV and why Sky+ is so fab!

Horrid complete turn off FWIW M & C Saatchi did them.

I think they are shite - life is stressful enough without having people shouting and screaming in the ads.

I think its a good idea for ad....
....executed very badly

the chinese woman shouts on for far too long
was thinking this was uncomfortable viewing ..and stroppy teenager has very bad actors for parents ...

Oops I find the teenager one quite funny! Maybe because I don;t yet have teenagers

i find the old couple in bed one quite funny. agree about the acting of the parents in the stroppy teenager one though.

Dont like the 'chinese' couple one. Looks like a vulnerable old man suffering emotional abuse at the hands of his wife. I thought it was an ad at first for some age concern type charity- stressing the abuse of elderly people in their own homes by their own family. grim.

THink they've missed an opportunity to make some very funny adverts on the same premise but using clever humour. Glad I'm not the only one.

Earthymama - totally agree with your comments

I really like the couple and the toddler having breakfast who just 'stare' fixedly at the camera

I think they're fabulous actually in concept and in execution

Haven't seen that one. AT least they're not shouting by the sounds...

don't get me wrong I really like the shouting snapshots too .. I think they're rather true to life actually

NOt in my life! Can't stand confrontation like this... maybe it's down to the childhood I had (not very shouty)

that doesn't make them wrong though or depressing .. they are true representations of many people's family lives

I for one came from an extremely volatile family which could flare up and calm down in the blink of an eye .. which we actually all enjoyed

I don't however tend to argue in my own family .. we just don't have the right combattant interactions

I think they should make one about a couple shagging on the worktop

Ha! My dh were having a shouty row the other night in the living room only to be distracted by hearing another couple having a similar shouty row in the MFI ad. Was quite weird and diffused our argument instantly !

FWIW my 8 yr dd said she didn't like them and they set a bad example of how people behave.

Her words not mine.

I love her to bits....
