So it looks like BBC2 have decided not to recomission this despite good viewing figures (but are recomissioning a load of rubbish cooking shows).

I really enjoyed that show!

Oh that's a shame. One of the few things we enjoyed watching together here.

Aw that's such a shame! Me and DH really enjoyed it, despite neither of us knowing anything about pottery. Was just such nice, easy watching!

I wonder if you can write to the BBC and ask if they could reconsider? The cookery shows they are recomissioning are just awful.

Hasn’t the Sewing Bee gone the same way? I really enjoyed that too ☹️

The Sewing Bee is back next year, BUT with no Claudia –it's presented by Joe Lycett instead. Patrick Grant and Esme Young are still judging. I love Claudia, so I'm a bit gutted, but it's better than nothing.

It is a crying shame about the Throwdown, seeing as it had good figures and pottery seems to be popular.

Oh no Sad We loved Pot Off, it was great. What a shame they're not recommissioning it.

Ooh thanks for the Bee update. I can go back to just being sad about the pots now!

Joe Lycett really? That is not a good choice.

We're sad in our house. Loved the excitement of seeing what was intact after firing and the sometimes emotional judge.

I really loved that show was interesting no wonder we gave so few craftspeople if they're not introduced to the craft somehow

The most recent cookery show with those. People all living together in the house during the programme was extremely odd especially when it was obvious who the judges’favourite was a couple of shows in. If I was the BBC I’d forget the cooking ones as they’ll never beat the bake off format and concentrate on the craft type competitions like sewing bee and the throw down instead

I loved that show too! I think Joe Lycett presenting might end up like new Bake Off with Tom Allen being a bit try-hard and unfunny...

I'm really missing Junior bake off! It was great!

Is the problem that it's quite difficult to find credible contestants for things like dressmaking and pottery?

I guess also the problem with some crafts is that they're too slow for this sort of format. Something on crochet, knitting, tapestry or weaving could be quite good but they couldn't manufacture much excitement and stress over people hand knitting Aran jumpers Sad

That's a big shame. Pottery making is a huge part of this country's culture and history. The pottery contestants were really good amateurs with the occasional semi-professional thrown in. I never agreed with the winners, but then that's competitions for you!

Oh no, I loved watching this and the obvious passion of the presenters! Love the sewing bee too!

WooYa · 18/08/2018 10:14

I enjoyed watching it because I like things like pottery/sewing/knitting but I can't actually do it Confused

green, I know. It seems so short-sighted considering it's only growing in popularity too.
