New thriller started last week

A girl is found murdered who disappeared 6yrs ago

E1 on demand - e2 on this Saturday so plenty of time to catch up

Bit like the fall as in you know who the killer is from the start

Anyone watching?

Started to watch it but couldn't be bothered to keep reading the subtitles every time someone spoke Welsh - which seemed a tremendous amount considering I thought most Welsh people don't actually speak it day to day - especially the younger generations.

Shame as I thought it looked quite promising.

It's set in Snowdonia, where a lot of people are first language Welsh speakers. I would expect more Welsh IRL if they're talking amongst themselves.

Personally I wondered why half the cast seemed to be English or from South Wales.

I liked the fact we have subtitles when welsh spoken

Tho many words sound the same Welsh /English

I thought it was quite good

Haven't caught up with it yet. I love Hinterland; is it at all like that?

I thought it was better than Hinterland.

I'd probably say it moves along a bit faster - although not too fast.

It broods a little too but it doesn't wallow in it.

And the main character is a little bit more verbal/vocal than the Hinterland chap and she has a bit more of an external life/world.

Also, the clothes and locations are better.

Like Hinterland Plus or Jurassic Park with extra dinosaurs - that kind of thing... Smile

I really like the slowness of Hinterland, the brooding, the main character and the locations Grin (although the other detective's ever-present red parka thingy used to annoy me).

But I'll definitely give this a go.

I’m assuming mum of killed knows what he did

And where he went to sleep after mum belts him - is that where he hid the girl!

Just started watching it seems okthink the welsh speaking is a good idea not seen enough IMO and I'm not a welsh speaker - enjoying seeing how comparable it is to English

Both he and his mum are creepy!
Lots of different storylines going on will be interesting to see how they develop

Actually I was assuming it's his Mum who is taking the girls and dominating him too? And he's purposefully let her go probably!

I watched the full series in Welsh on S4C earlier this year. It gets darker and pretty gripping - I watched the whole thing on catch up in about 1 weekend!! Gillian Elisa as the mother puts in a great performance, as does Gwyneth Keyworth as the student. The location scout also deserves a BAFTA (if there is such a category) as the locations are truly stunning. I’d say it’s better than Hinterland, which is good but sometimes I don’t think the storylines are as good as they could be.

It's made by the same people as Hinterland but I'm not enjoying it as much; some of them are really quite wooden - Cadi's sergeant with the pregnant partner, for example. Anyway we were wondering last night how many episodes there are. It seems very early to have such strong signalling as to whodunnit. Hinterland was more episodic but with an overarching narrative and I really liked that.

I think the level of Welsh speaking is about right, given the area - but not much noticeable north walian. I missed this one purely in Welsh on s4c. Watched Hinterland like that (mostly location/friends as extras spotting so wanted to see it straight away) but actually the 'english' versions are a much truer reflection of how the language is spoken I think.

It's got quite a Scandi feel - I wonder if they export it to Sweden? Grin

I'm watching it and getting quite hooked. Some of the scenery's amazing.

I'm watching... on catchup! It's very atmospheric to the point that I can hardly bear to watch some scenes.

I've just started watching on catchup . I'm on episode 4 and really enjoying it, but it's very creepy. And dark, I mean so dark I sometimes can't see what's happening on screen - maybe I need to adjust the tv!

I'm also wondering who the little dark haired girl is who lives with Dylan and his mum. Should I know this by episode 4 or is it yet to be explained?

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 09/07/2018 21:36

I think it's Dylan's daughter but poss from one of his victims

Anyone still watching?

I watched the first three but the 4th only half watched.

Not sure I can stand another 4-especially if we don't find out why he takes them why his mum says nothing & who the little girl is!

DaftSkunk · 18/07/2018 21:18

You can watch a bit earlier on BBC Wales - ep 7 is on now. Or it is available on iPlayer after today.

I'm on episode 4 and I quite like it.
In the all Welsh version, are the English scenes dubbed or refilmed?
