Apologies if there has already been an actual thread, I couldn't see one except for talking about the fact it was coming up.

Has any one watched yet? What did you think?

If I'm honest I might be a bit disappointed. The bit I found the most interesting was the fact that they were collecting DNA from park guests!

I liked the bit where they found the tiger, very polar bear/Lost esque! Obviously from another park but what is it doing there?

Can't wait to hear everyone's theories, I really enjoyed last year's thread about S1!

I need to rewatch it. I didn't really know what was going on. Grin

I loved it. Is nobody else watching it?

I loved it, all set to watch again tomorrow to try to pick up some clues. My thoughts are that the tiger has been washed there from another park by some biblical type flood, possibly triggered by Ford who's likely uploaded himself into a host in the park. I'm pretty sure that the Bernard who washed up on the beach is being played by the Delos people and is somehow not quite the same Bernard who is with Charlotte in the lab bunker... loving itSmile

Love the Bernard theory Eric. However I must tell you that Eric Northman is actually all mine Smile.

Love your Bernard theory Eric! Also another one here putting her bid in to claim Eric Northman Grin

I did occur to me the Delos/Dolores connection last year but every one I mentioned it too didn't seem to think it was significant. Maybe we're on to something!

Also a bit disappointed that it was sort of confirmed that the parks are island and the base is on the mainland. I had a theory last year that it was on a different planet. It was based only on the cool whooshing noise the trains to and from the park made Smile maybe I'm right after all and they just think they're on an island. Not my best theory, I will admit!

Do we know who the host is that Bernard and the woman are looking for? Think they said his name but it didn’t mean anything to me.

It totally baffled me, overly long and too complex. Perhaps i just watched it too late in the evening.

The host they are looking for is Peter Abernathy, Delore's father from S1. Apparently they hid the code inside him or something, in a bid to smuggle it out of the park.

I LOVED it! There was a very good "Westworld: The Story So Far" recap programme on Sky Atlantic just before S2 began, which summarised everything that had happened by the end of S1 - it should still be on catch-up so would recommend giving it a watch if you're confused (we'd have been completely lost if we hadn't seen it).

Maeve and Delores are such a badasses...

Donteat he was the one who malfunctioned early in S1 when he saw the picture of the woman in the 'real world' and then got retired to the big cold storage unit if that rings any bells to you. I think I might rewatch this afternoon to see if I can spot anything else.

Looks like the recap would be a good idea for me too. Slightly confused by the first episode, though not helped by the fact I kept dozing off!

We watched the recap before S2 started and it did help a lot. 18months is a long time between series.

I think it seems to be a bit more obvious that there are two time lines two weeks a part from the start this series but I think they could be tricking us. I noticed that this series started with what looked like Arnold and Dolores talking about dreams, similar the the conversations we saw them have last series before we knew that Arnold and Bernard looked the same. Is it really Arnold? What is the relevance of dreams? Seems an odd thing to start with.

Come to this thread as I am getting a bit lost and hoped to pick up some clues as to what is going on, it’s obviously one I am going to have to watch with no distractions or tiredness. I do sometimes get a bit lost though in series where there are different timelines flipping about

ParadiseLaundry · 29/04/2018 22:43

I wouldn't worry about the timelines too much at the minute, I think they will purposefully put things in to make us guess incorrectly.

Has anyone seen the trailer for tonight's episode! It looks AMAZING!

Anyone seen episode 2yet?

I've been wondering about the real life impact of the technological/medical advancements that Westworld has. Surely if they can create a 'living' being out of 'thin air' there are some illnesses which can be eradicated? Obviously not for Arnold's son and possibly Mr Delos. Are they using collected guest DNA to create new hosts? Presumably the genetic material has to come from somewhere. I'm going to put my theory out there that that Dolores was an egg donor for William and his wife's daughter. And maybe even carried the baby? (Do hosts have eggs/sperm??) and that's why she was defensive when she was talking to Dolores. Also the fact that she also has blonde hair. That's all I have to go on at the minute though Grin also maybe Maeve's daughter is her genetic daughter which could explain the bond between them meaning even if her memory is wiped she can't forget her.

I've also been thinking about the way that Dolores' character is presented as innocent, almost asexual compared to Angela and the look they shared when she saw Angela getting dressed after having what looked like some kind of orgy/threesome. Dolores is described as a sort of family friendly 'welcome wagon' and we've often seen her talking to families/children in the park. Although I have a vague recollection of someone mentioning in S1 that Dolores had, in a previous life worked at the Mariposa, but that may well have been my imagination. Please let me know if anyone else can remember that!

Apologies is this is a bit rambling, I've had a dreadful nights sleep and this has been going through my mind!

Interesting theory re egg donor, not sure if I buy it Grin

I think they are experimenting with the human brain, finding out how human emotions work etc. Maybe it started off as some kind of marketing program for Delos but is has evolved into something sinister.

The Dolores/Angela relationship is interesting. Arnold didn't think Dolores was ready so Angela got sent instead. Their roles seemed to have been reversed now.

Season 1 recap was essential for me.
I need to rewatch S2 episodes because I'm getting very confused and can't seem to take it all in.

Report
bakingdemon · 01/05/2018 10:34

I think the hosts don't change/age like humans - Dolores still looks exactly the same as she did 40 years before - so I don't think they can carry children.

So desperate to know what Delos have been doing with all the data they have on people! And no Bernard this week. I wondered if the mustering point which the security guy they dunked in the white goo was the same point where we saw all the bodies of the hosts in Ep 1.

Bernard appeared as Arnold when he was showing Dolores the real world and the house he was building. Wonder if the house ever got finished or if it was just the memory Bernard had.
The Arnold/Bernard and Dolores relationship is very much a parent child relationship and to Arnold Dolores seemed almost real, until she repeated her programmed lines.

I am fascinated by the complicated characters, William is nothing like the good guy as he first appeared and Dolores has so many different aspects, it's difficult to keep up.

I can't say I loved it. Too much death and destruction and leaping about. However I am prepared to carry on and see if it redeems itself.

Do love the strong women characters in it. And plenty of them as well.
