Can't see a thread about this, but it's so funny. Anyone else watching?

Is this the Amrican one where both Mother (Bonnie) and daughter (Christie) are alcoholics ?
Or something different ?

I liked that one.

I think blues means the English one!
It's wonderful. Warm and subtle - just a tiny exaggeration of real life.

I love it too. Wish my own mum was still alive, she’d have loved it. Series 1 is all available on iPlayer at the moment too

I absolutely love it. So subtle and gentle. Love Kelly and Michael.

Well worth watching series 1. I watched it last year when it was on but couldn't find anyone else who had. I really like it.

I'm loving Mum and currently watching series 1 on iPlayer. Lovely, empathetic comedy.

I love it! Such a nice mix of characters and great actors. By the same person who wrote Him and Her and I love that too Smile

Really love it, every character is wonderful.

I gave it a try but didn't take to it. The mum seemed to be putting up with a lot of suit with the implication being that 'that's what mums do' and I really don't like that mum-as-silent-martyr shit.

I love mum. Can’t wait for tonight’s episode

But she doesn't have any air of martyrdom about her. She just comes across as a lovely, non-judgemental person. I love the way she says, 'do want to talk about anything?' when the dippy gf is clearly fretting.

To be fair bluesky I've only watched one episode (first of second series) and her son and the gf were being fairly unpleasant and thoughtless. Nothing was said to them, just a knowing smile like she knew not to expect anything else. It just made me think that crap men particularly need to be told when they're being out of order, not humoured.

I thought tonight's was the best one so far, I really laughed watching it. 😁

Theshitty - you're absolutely right, but as with most comedy, behaviour is exaggerated for comic effect. And the joke is very much on the son and his gf who think they're being really profound and clever about so much but they just make themselves look like fools.

My best bits tonight were the collapsing deckchair, the discussion about favourite positions for sex and when Cathy gently removed the knife that the gf was waving about.

I like the fact that there are moments of such poignancy when Cathy thinks about Dave and when she and Michael fail yet again to be honest with each other about how they feel. But the killer tonight was Dave's mum and dad when they remembered how much Dave liked a barbecue.

I really like it but I'm beginning to find the really drawn out will they wont they irritating. Almost cribgy wjth the same stereotypes each week. But it has some really poignant momebts - when the old guy remembers his dead son liking bbqs sniff. So I'm sticking with it as I like it but I find it almost painfully cringy at times!! (For goodness sake say what you think/stand up to her/etc)

I liked snobby woman beginning to bond with goth girl towards the end.

Sometimes I find it all a bit too 'try too hard' but thought this week's episode managed to get it just right, especially the poignant moments Sad

I'm really enjoying this and I'm not really sure why! Pauline is a great character. Loved the bit in series 1 where Kelly says to her that she didn't realised Pauline worked in a supermarket too, and Pauline says "I don't, I work at Waitrose" Kelly says, "but Waitrose is a supermarket" and Pauline says, "No. It isn't." Grin

I'm really enjoying it but I do find it a bit dry in places. Lots of silences and why oh why does Michael keep going upstairs in their house to talk to her?! He just wanders up there to her bedroom etc. I know they're close but still...
