Anyone else watching? I'm gettingredients a bit fed of it being filmed in the dark most of the time.

I've just put it on. Not really being grabbed so far.....

Have it 15 minutes. Utter bilge. What a waste of a good budget.

Disappointing so far. Just telling the story by rote. I'm not sure what they could do differently. Maybe just leave it alone!

Comes across as a BBC2 history recreation with a bit of nakedness thrown in. Helen reminds me of Kim Cattrall. IMO, Paris isn’t handsome enough.

Dire script and wooden acting in my humble opinion.

Not a patch on Vikings

Yep, totally wooden acting! What a waste of money. Think BBC knows it’s a stinker as not heavily advertised.

Why can’t we have a decent Saturday night drama/action?!

I wish it was last year so I could be watching Taboo on Saturday nights instead of this dullness....

Some of the script isn't great at all and it's a bit slow and ponderous but it has to set the scene for people who don't know the story. Every filmed version of this story has always been a bit crap though, and however you dress it up Paris is an idiot.

I'll give it another week or two. I expect once the conflict begins things will improve (but not for the Trojans Sad. )

I think Helen is stunning, which VB is not. This Hector isn't a patch on Eric Bana though.

Kim Cattrall - seriously? Shock

Beccatheboo · 17/02/2018 22:40

Yes, the scene has to be set but just too perscriptive. Doesn’t move naturally. Actors just lacking screen appeal and chemistry. Shame. Don’t think I’ll bother next week. Beautiful Eric Bana all the way!

Kim Cattrall’s nose area, I think.

I love it.Smile
It reminds me of a more grownup version of Atlantis.

Dh watched a bit of it and interrupted throughout complaining how bad it was, and ds2 interrupted throughout saying could someone explain it as he really couldn't understand what was going on and they all looked the same (the women I think he meant) and I just told them both to a) go away b) be quiet and listen to the plot line.

Vairy educational. Ds wants to do Classical Civ A level.

It reminds me of Howard's End a bit. I mean the way it doesn't make sense until you get used to the acting style after a few hours.

not very impressed, disappointing- there doesn't seem to be much on at the moment that I can be bothered to invest in

Found it oversimplified in parts:

"Aphrodite: the goddess of love".

The glossed over parts at other times. Like Paris father who raised him. Oh his your son, grand so. See you.

"Comes across as a BBC2 history recreation"
^ think you have clinched it in a nutshell.

Plus I'm disappoint with the lack of attractive men .

Review is more complimentary than the comments!
Review includes this-
Minor niggle but it did irritate me that Helen referred to Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, by her Roman name of Diana in her telling of the story of Actaeon.

Exactly what I thought but at least I think they're sticking mostly to the story, unlike the film which made ridiculous changes.

I knew there was a good chance it could be a dud but seriously, it's the greatest legend in the world and they've made it boring so far.
I really hope it improves.

I'm going to watch the next one. It may be the 'set up ' episode.

Even Frank Gallagher is coming across wooden. He's a decent actor too (I'll recall his real name soon!!).

David Threlfall!!

At one point (during the family meal) he was dressed (and behaving) in a way that would have been suited to a 1990s pothead.

Watched the first 2 episodes of this. It’s not particularly good. I was so looking forward to watching it. Helen isn’t stunning enough - she’s meant to be this amazing looking woman that Paris has to have & break all rules of the day. I’m not buying it. Not enough chemistry between them. Paris as ever though is a dick.

The near immediate problem I had was Helen not being stunningly beautiful- I was expecting general crapness, just not a middle aged moderately attractive Helen
