I loved the previous series of Shetland so I have high hopes for this one.
V pleased to see Tosh was still there.

Just caught up on iplayer, good start!
When did Jimmy acquire the smart Volvo, lovingly placed in so many shots? Didn’t he used to have a well used Subaru? Spot of product placement there.

Enjoyed this, never tire of that wonderful bleak scenery. Not sure Thomas would have returned to that same place, though.

Glad to see Tosh decided to stay after her terrible experience last time - but cliff hanger ending to yesterday's episode

I love Douglas Henshall.
That is all.

(That and I love Shetland. And tosh. And the scenery. And the other characters and the writing. But mostly DH)

I love Shetland so was really pleased to see it back on again. Plus, seeing Tosh and knowing she is staying is wonderful.

I googled where I'd seen the actor who played Thomas (Id seen him in Skins) and read that the actor who plays DC Sandy Wilson, actually does the voice for Jimmy Perez in the radio show! I wonder how he felt about not playing the lead?

Looking forward to the next few weeks now, especially as Mum is back as well.

Good start to the series. Like others, am glad Tosh is staying. Fantastic scenery and lots of red herrings. The twin sister? Oil company? House mate? Boyfriend? Good music too.

Volvo will be very happy! But I think he had a Volvo last time.

Love the fact there is a blackboard in the office

yes I spotted the loving way the camera loitered on the Volvo! He def had a volvo before though as my husband commented on it. Wallander had a volvo too and we decided that they were de rigeur for dectectives in bleak landscapes!

Ah! Maybe it’s a Volvo police lease as Mathias has one too in Hinterland. Mind you he lives in a caravan so maybe that’s how he’s affords itGrin

Anyone else googling holiday lets in Shetland? Dh is. And we are having an Anne Cleeves fest by watching Vera. Pet.

Yes, love Shetland. I think the actor who played Thomas was in Outlander?

Pretty sure that Midsomer Police are driving Volvos in the more recent series as well - is it a Scandi conspiracy?

Volvo must have a big budget for product placement Grin
Yes Thomas was Angus in Outlander as was Douglas Henshall.
I am beginning to think I watch too much tv!

I do love a bleak, scenic, crime drama. I think I missed the last series as I watched on Netflix.
Love Vera as well and although I've tried the Ann Cleeves books I didn't enjoy them.
Another scenic crime with brooding cop is Hinterland, based around Aberystwyth AKA Aber Grin

I really don't like the Scottish accent.
I don't know why.
But I have a real soft spot for Douglas Henshall.

I do like Shetland even though it's quite 'cosy crime'. The landscape is so achingly beautiful.

DI Perez is a tad dull but so decent. My DP has a man-crush on him. Grin I like the other cop guy whose name I can't remember; in the last series when Tosh told him what happened to her, his face was heartbreaking and so touching.

I think the story will end up being a rather well-trodden one about cover-ups in the big oil company. Yer man who just got out of prison might not last the series though.

I didn't know that about the actor who plays DC Sandy Wilson, long; how interesting!

brownelephant · 20/02/2018 21:16

DI Perez is so comfortingly decent.
and Tosh comfortingly competent.

It's sad to see Tosh struggling. A strong, competent professional, but trying to control her present and not to be controlled by the past.

It's a very convoluted plot....

@eloisesparkle that’s quite a sweeping statement - you know there’s more than one Scottish accent 😂

But loving this new series. I’m often up in Shetland for work - they do a decent gin too!
