I've never seen it before but we really enjoyed it! Is it a series?

Report
cheesydoesit · 02/01/2018 22:37

Yes, we are on series 4 now. I think the other 3 series are available on iPlayer. They are fantastic.

Great episode, with an uncharacteristically happy ending.

That was amazing! Must have taken so much work. For anyone who didn't see it - DO watch on catch up.

Report
Butterymuffin · 02/01/2018 22:54

ifyousee it is but each episode stands alone. So you don't have to watch them all or in order.

Oh glad there's an Inside No. 9 thread. I am an addict! Tonight's was good but surprisingly light...which means next week's might be much darker. There has def been the odd episode that has been very twisted made me hide behind a cushion so never know what to expect, but good opener to the series Smile

mrwalkensir · 02/01/2018 23:06

that was as good as ever Smile

Brilliant as usual, loved the rhyming couplets & the hokey cokey at the end was just genius.

Anyone who hasn't watched the previous series, I highly recommend, they are pure brilliance, especially 12 Days Of Christine & A Quiet Night In.

LOVED it. They are such brilliant writers. The hokey cokey was mildly terrifying. No one goes batshit quite like Reece Shearsmith Grin

just watched on catch up, that was so brilliant and cleverly done, I was spellbound

It was just brilliant. I don't know how they do it. Standalone 30 minute episodes all in different genres packing in as much as other films and plays take 2 hours to do.

And fabulous ensemble casts too.

I love it too. And the 12 days of Christine still haunts me with its sadness despite watching it over a year ago now.

I loved that too. And it was nice to have a happy one as a change.

I loved it, beautifully done. I was spellbound from beginning to end. Surprisingly happy ending but as a PP said, that just means that the next episode will either be really nasty or break your heart! And I agree that Reese has his own brand of unsurpassed batshit Grin

It was brilliant. And nice to see the stroppy teenage daughter from Upstart Crow in another role!

I've watched all three series in 2 nights to catch up! I'm amazed, it's awsome! I am finding myself shouting at the screen in some of them!! Loved LoG too!

It's fab isn't it? Total off-the-wall dark and delicious brilliance! Can't wait for next Tuesday's episode Smile

Wow SAB, that must have done strange things to your head! What were your favourite episodes? I think mine is Cold Comfort (the one set in a call centre) - there's such a creepy sense of dread all the way through and an enormous shock in the final few seconds. A Quiet Night In ( the silent episode) was a work of genius too

Has anyone seen the Christmas special from last year? VERY disturbing reveal at the end. Gave me nightmares

Thank you - I've just seen the first 2 series are on netflix so I can catch up on them :-).

@lottapianos Huge Shearsmith & Pemberton fan here. Devil of Christmas was genius imo but yes, utterly horrid. Jacobi 's narration was inspired too. My teenage DD was appalled when she recognised the voice of In the night garden in that episode

I couldn't single one out, the first two of series 1 blew my mind, the call centre one, the scary game show one, the Christmas one, the crossword one!

Tonight's was so sad.

Report
TheSassyAssassin · 09/01/2018 23:01

It really was wasn't it? Very poignant plus a real nostalgic look back to past times. The Yewtree reference was a bit close to the bone but also a real reminder of how things have changed and figures that my parents used to laugh at (& some I recall from when I was v young) are now relics and rightly vilified. Very sobering. But beautifully acted and very clever again.

So. We've had a happy one. We've had a sad one. Might need my cushion to hide behind for next week's episode! Wink
