Really enjoying the new season - anyone else?

Just starting watching it now.

phlebasconsidered · 10/12/2017 16:28

Ivarr is just amazing in it. Properly hellish. I do think that Astrid will turncoat though.

And Bishop Headamund is pretty hot. And weird.

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/12/2017 17:05

I'm a massive Ivar fan. I think he steals every scene he's in. I did look up the real life character which was quite interesting.

TinselAngel · 10/12/2017 17:29

Where is this on? I thought it hadn't started yet?

cushioncovers · 10/12/2017 17:44

It's on prime

phlebasconsidered · 10/12/2017 19:30

I think.the actor who plays Ivarr does a cracking job. He had such a tortured childhood, the scenes where he claims he is doing more to prove he is equal are brilliant, because you know he is just being manipulative. Both Floki and his father know / knew what he what capable of.

The scene where he was sitting shouting at the English, keeping them at bay with sheer conviction, was really powerful.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 11/12/2017 09:11

I love Vikings. The most recent episode was bloody gruesome though, wasn’t it Shock.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 11/12/2017 09:11

I agree re Ivar, he is brilliantly horrific.

Fiderer · 12/12/2017 08:02

I like their accents. Am a bit cross that I live in Forrin & the accent here is no way as appealing Wink

Not sure where the Floki story line is going.

Am always interested in how detailed their jewellry & hair dos are, wonder how authentic they are.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 12/12/2017 08:19

Well, now Floki has discovered Iceland he's clearly going settle, and produce a long line of descendents resulting in Bjork.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 12/12/2017 08:39

Fiderer, the hair is so intricate, isn’t it? I wonder if it’s wigs/hairpieces or if the makeup/hair people have to do that every time?! The hair is so thick and lush, it must be wigs, surely?

cushioncovers · 12/12/2017 09:33

Love the women's hair. And rather liking the men's beards as well.

Is there actually anything for floki to eat on Iceland?

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 12/12/2017 10:36

He seems to be licking hallucinogenic moss at the mo, given the weird visions.

mishfish · 16/12/2017 15:54

Ohh just started another thread before finding this.

LOVE Ivar. He’s terrifying and mesmerising at the same time. And so beautiful.

Fitzerk I feel he’s a bit crap, I almost forget he’s a son of Ragnar.

What do you think happened the the Queen of Mercier’s son? At the end of season 4 King Aesulwulf sent him out of the castle and told him to tell people he is the son of ranger even though they knew he wouldn’t. Do you think he sent him to his death or will he return?!

GrimDamnFanjo · 16/12/2017 16:00

Yay to the hair. I was admiring lagartha s this week.
My dads DNA is part of an international study and he is Viking, of Norwegian ancestry, so il like to think I'm watching family ;)

OP posts:
cushioncovers · 16/12/2017 16:12

Didn't think I would enjoy it the same without Ragnor but I am.

Zippea · 16/12/2017 16:20

I’m really enjoying it so far and loving the addition of JRM as Heahmumd. Ivar is proper scary isn’t he - when he was screaming at Aethelwulf’s troop was amazing. I couldn’t not watch.
I think Ubbe looks strikingly like Ragnar and the Queen of Mercier’s son will return.

GreatWesternValkyrie · 18/12/2017 00:25

Me too, GrimDamnFanjo!

I absolutely LOVE this show, the casting is fantastic and agree with PPs, the addition of Jonathan Rhys Meyers is making me very happy indeed (massive Tudors fan too).

AWitchCalledMeg · 31/12/2017 10:05

Just searched for ages to find a Vikings thread, I love it and I'm surprised it hasn't a bigger following on here. The casting is spot on, really clever how many of the people really do strongly resemble their characters parent(s). Ivar is so completely compelling as is the bishop. Poor Astrid in the lastest episode though 😰

Grunkalunka · 02/01/2018 17:54

Glad they didn't show all the Astrid scene. Thought Bjorn's trip to Africa and Italy whilst looking stunning was a bit pointless. The escape seemed a tad unbelievable as well. How did they get ahead of the storm and find their way through the desert?

I still love Vikings but miss the humour of the earlier seasons.

MunchMunch · 02/01/2018 22:46

Love Vikings!

I thought Bjorn was going to go berserk (see what I done there?!) when he realised what the feast consisted of but Halfdan wasn't too bothered Grin.

I agree with what has been said about Ivar, great scenes from him and he's acting them out so well.

MunchMunch · 02/01/2018 22:50

And YY to the accents when speaking English , I could listen to them all day.

I was so pleased that King harald got washed before marrying Astrid. He would marry anyone!
I had fallen out with lagertha last season but she's back to full brilliance this season.

Madreb · 02/01/2018 23:33

Noo, I feel it's lost it's way. Poor storytelling, shit script. Violence and rape to fill time due to aforementioned issues. If Ivor wasn't there keeping me engaged I'd have given up which is a shame as I've loved it previously.
