TV & Stories which Comfort re Real Life

Which programmes/films/other stories have helped you endure the horrors of schooldays, or life generally? (Besides just being good entertainment/escapism.)

Anne of Green Gables provides comfort through empathy, because the eponymous heroine knows how it feels to have people constantly "twitting" you about your hair. (In her case, the colour.)

And the Young Ones helped with certain bodily functions (either real, or false accusations thereof): I fancied Rik & Vyvyan, and they had bodily functions galore.

I find Eastenders strangely comforting, maybe because it isn't all glamour and show homes. Also, Frasier and Agatha Christie are comfort tv I find.

Midsomer Murders, must be the old ones though with John Nettles, a cosy murder mystery always cheers me up! And I love looking at all the pretty cottages and villages very comforting I find.
