Witnesses: A Frozen Death, BBC4

Did anyone see this last night? I enjoyed it. French crime/thriller rather than BBC4's more usual Scandi fare, but quite acceptable Grin

They've given the female lead the obligatory unreliable vintage car and made her a slightly OCD single parent, but it's shaping up nicely, I think. 8 episodes in total.

I’ve recorded it, and plan on watching it this afternoon or Tuesday night.

This is the second series - first series was on Channel 4 a couple of years ago.

Does the sequence in the opening titles where she goes to a beach house relate to the earlier series?

I think it might be the same opening credits, but don't think it particularly relates to the the story though?

I quite liked it, did chuckle at the obligatory unreliable old car and the leather jacket.

Have rewritten this reply (twice) so avoid spoilers.
We watched it and thought the storyline was intriguing, but didn't like some of the female detective's personal life stuff, and thought the medical management of the other woman was highly improbable.
Will be watching next episode to see what happens though.

I was a bit bemused at their forensic practices. When the cops got onto the bus, the only precaution they took was to put gloves on. I'm sure Emilia Fox would have got dolled up in fetching white overalls first.

I had to laugh when they went to the farm at the end and they had that long walk through the field all in the open. Plenty of time for anyone on that farm to finish their cup of tea and stroll out via the back Smile

That's interesting, Agnes, I missed that!

It's not on the C4 website - but you can download from iTunes or its on DVD on Amazon.

I watched both episodes as dh fell asleep after the first one, definitely watching next week. I thought the same about the lack of overalls when they went into the bus, and that was very funny when the police man side kick got into the chest freezer with the sales assistant guy!

I remember the first series but didn't remember what it was called and the fact that it was originally on channel 4 threw me.

I really enjoyed it and was pleased to see Josephine from 'Spiral" (best French series ever!) In it. I am looking forward to next week.

The red-haired woman (assume that's Josephine from 'Spiral'?) really reminds me of Catherine Tate.

You are right Halsall! That's who she reminded me of, I just couldn't put my finger on it. I looked her up but that didn't help at all and I haven't watched Spiral.

Really enjoyed it, we'll have to find series 1 as we missed it on channel 4 as well.

I love the actress playing Josephine, although DH freaked me out as he misread the Guardian write up of her playing an amnesiac as her being anorexic - I was ready to send them a furious email about unhealthy body images Grin

Loved it, made me jump a couple of times, can't wait for the next episodes.

Yes it is. Have to completely disagree that she looks like Tate though.

Did anyone watch the first series?
I did, but I can't remember the detail of Sandra's personal life –did she get pregnant with her now young daughter during the series? Is she her ex's child? How did his and Sandra's relationship play out?

Agree 100% Can't wait for a new series of 'Spiral'.

This looks as though it's off to a good start though, very dark isn't it, in an intriguing way.

my DH wants to know if we reckon there are going to be dead babies in this series, (we have no prior spoiler info) as if there is, he can't bear to watch it. Any views?

I'm wondering whether I can find myself the brown jacket she's wearing in series 1!

I found the toddler not having proper childcare really troubling...

BBC4, Saturday 9pm

It's turning into quite a chilling and intriguing story.

It makes a pleasant change (if you can call it that) for the majority of the body count to be male

Instead of the obligatory nubile 17yo girl who got her comeuppance for being a bit forward in most other formulaic murder mysteries
