Hillary Clinton talking about how women need to be assertive about getting their voices heard. She leaves. And a sofa full of men take her place.

quaqua Fri 20-Oct-17 23:05:53

I must watch that.
Isn't that just coincidence though?

margaritasbythesea Fri 20-Oct-17 23:06:53

Don't understand that at all. What happened?

MiddleClassProblem Fri 20-Oct-17 23:07:36

Did all the men say “leave now” and she said “ok”?

TheOtherNNB Fri 20-Oct-17 23:09:33

She’s doing the interview/news circuits isn’t she - is it because of her book?

I like her but every time I see her I can’t help but think of her philandering, sex pest husband. Which must be hard for her in this current climate.

Galaxyfarfaraway Fri 20-Oct-17 23:10:25

Her piece was recorded earlier.

SinglePringle Fri 20-Oct-17 23:14:33

Oh jog on. She has a ridiculous schedule and it was pre-recorded to fit. The sofa on GN is based on who is in town. They don’t fly guests in (or if they do, rarely) - it’s who’s here on promo.

They have many many women on that sofa.

(The Hilary / Dodgy husband thing is trickier...)

viques Fri 20-Oct-17 23:15:29

I know her piece was recorded earlier.

I am trying to remember the last time I saw a chat show sofa full of women only. Or more women than men rather than a token woman or as tonight no women at all. I sometimes think we have got so used to being sidelined and under represented that we barely notice it anymore.

Housewife2010 Fri 20-Oct-17 23:16:09

I've just switched it on. Why does Jack Whitehall look like he's going for a job interview? Usually he looks like Eddie Munster.

ukelelebanana Fri 20-Oct-17 23:17:05

I'm not sure you understand irony. On GN the guests are usually all together. She was alone, getting her voice heard properly. There is no irony there.
What a very odd thing to complain about.

quaqua Fri 20-Oct-17 23:17:28

It's usually pretty even on Graham Norton to be fair.

ukelelebanana Fri 20-Oct-17 23:17:34

And GN is often mainly women.

Galaxyfarfaraway Fri 20-Oct-17 23:19:30

You are overthinking this.
She had a busy schedule, negatively impacted by her hurting her foot, and it was the only time she could fit in the filming.
I never count the number of women and men, just the quality and entertainment value of the guests. GN usually does a good job with the dynamics of his guests.

SinglePringle Fri 20-Oct-17 23:19:31

Episode One of this series. More women than men. Bananarama, Reese Witherspoon and Margot Robbie.

Harrison Ford and an other male as the tokens.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday Fri 20-Oct-17 23:20:00

"GN is often mainly women"

Is it? I've only seen very few episodes where that has been the case.

PickAChew Fri 20-Oct-17 23:22:32

getting more value from pissed animals on rude tube.

ukelelebanana Fri 20-Oct-17 23:24:19

couldn't really be any more balanced. Of any show you could have picked, and it is an issue on most shows, this is the absolute worst one you could have focused on.

DontbeaDickaboutit Fri 20-Oct-17 23:26:26

Agree with Banana... seriously?

DontbeaDickaboutit Fri 20-Oct-17 23:28:03

As in, I really agree with Banana? They gave her a platform - they gave her “centre stage” if you like?

ssd Fri 20-Oct-17 23:30:17

oh christ who are you kidding op, GN is full of women, go try the poor little women card somewhere else

busyboysmum Fri 20-Oct-17 23:30:25

I noticed that as well.

I'm noticing more in all sorts of shows wondering where the balance is.

viques Fri 20-Oct-17 23:32:23

Thanks for the list ukelele. October 2015. That was the last time it was an all woman guest list.

ukelelebanana Fri 20-Oct-17 23:34:35

next week will be more women than men. And the week after it will be 50/50, which is usually is.

yolofish Fri 20-Oct-17 23:39:22

Hillary's interview was filmed pre-broadcast (I know because I was at ITV that day and it put the GN schedule out)

viques Fri 20-Oct-17 23:44:32

50/50, which is (what it) usually is
