Chesapeake Shores on Netflix

So, I may have found the cheesiest TV show in the known universe. Chesapeake Shores is great for those who like Christmas movies, and it comes from the USA Hallmark network, which is famous for schmaltzy TV.

It’s crap. Not going to lie. But it’s addictive. It’s a drama about a workaholic mum moving back to her picturesque home town. The town is cosy and Gilmore Girlsish. The hot gardener from Desperate Housewives is her love interest, and there’s a cute Irish granny who dispenses the kind of wisdom you’d find on Facebook memes.

Thanks to this show I’m now dreaming of buying a lake front house and sitting around all day in cosy jumpers drinking tea.

I’ve stopped watching. I liked it to begin with, dealing with the ex and adjusting back to country life but I can’t keep up with all the siblings and whatever the dad is up to.

This is getting on my tits now. Everyone has ridiculous white teeth, the grandma has the worst Irish accent I’ve heard in my life, and every storyline seems to wrap up far too perfectly. Just give me some drama damnit!

Definitely too many siblings. They should kill one of them off to make it more interesting.

If you like this then you might like When Calls The Heart which is also on Netflix and also from the hallmark channel. Set in the early 20th century in a mining town in the frontier. Very smaltzy and twee but oddly addictive!

Fun fact: actor who plays the Dad is about 3 years older than the actress who plays the Irish Grandma.

Stunning brunette with perfect teeth sister who runs a B&B but doesn’t seem to do anything
Stunning blonde with perfect teeth sister who’s a writer and does nothing
Handsome bro freshly back from Afghanistan with rugged scars
Goofy bro

Oh god, why do they keep referencing 9/11? This show is a mess.

I love this show. And it's definitely not the kind of thing I'd normally watch.

I actually watch it mainly for the scenery - after what felt like years of Gilmore girls it's great to watch something filmed on location that doesn't feel like a fake set.

It's just great, heart warming, escapist, cheesy tv. It's not going to set the world on fire but it's comforting nonetheless.

In fact, scrap the cast, scrap the script, recommission gilmore girls but get them living in the Canadian location they use for Chesapeake Shores, and you've got the perfect TV show. :-)

This show has so little drama that I didn’t even notice it go from season 1 to 2. There was no real cliffhanger or anything.

It’s definitely got a bit of Gilmore Girls inspiration. Without the fast dialogue and pop culture references.

I love it. It is terrible, reminds me of sunset beach. They mention everyone's surname too much. I need them to put Everwood on Netflix.

I’d love to rewatch Everwood as a proper adult. Still not over the adoption storyline.

The biggest drama in this seems to be whether the sister with kids is a workaholic this week or not.

Only on TV would someone open a bookstore in the year 2017. Or open a brand new B&B that’s packed from day one.
