Group Captain Townsend, Jenny Lee, desperately trying to get their previous characters out of my head.

Liking it so far, not a period I know much about.

Liking it too. More interesting because it's such an unfamiliar world

I don't think I'm in the right mood as I'm struggling to tell the officers apart. I was confused why Mary was being so nice to Alison then realised Alison wasn't having an affair with Mary's husband! Maybe a catch up on iplayer later.

I thought exactly the same thing Surrey!

Really enjoying it and I know nothing about Aden or the British role there. Very interesting.

I lived in the Middle East (although not Aden) in the 60s and any soldier stationed out there with a fancy mid-noughties haircut of shaved sides, rug on top going down to a point in the middle of the skull at the back, would have sent straight to the barber's. And probably put on a charge too.
It was bizarre in an otherwise authentic looking series.
Apart from that, I enjoyed it. I do remember attacks on the British there, mostly bombs.

I wasn't going to watch it but thought I'd give it a try. Glad I did, it was really quite good.

Ha Tarty I noticed that hairdo too! Apart from that I enjoyed this. Will watch again next week.

weird that all the (topless) men are ...let's say weighty.... when the women aren't - even back in the 80s men weren't that lardy. Would be nice to see a bit more effort put in

Anyone watching tonight? I'm still enjoying it!

I am. Is mary going to die do you reckon?

Report
WipsGlitter · 08/10/2017 21:41

I hope not!

CoolCarrie · 08/10/2017 21:42

I really hope Mary won't die, especially after last week and her sweet little boy being shot at!
I am enjoying this and Stephen Campbell Moore is a brilliant actor ( he is married to Clare Foy)

Yes watching

But finding it very gruesome viewing tonight

Mary looks gravely ill

spiderbabymum · 08/10/2017 21:45

Oh no they have captured a prisoner

It was good again. Enjoying the music as well. I suspect the character played by Jessie Buckley will be well and truly debauched by wots her name. (Sorry I'm rubbish at remembering character names!)

I surprised myself by enjoying this last week (military stuff isn't usually my thing), and am well and truly hooked now. I agree with Earless that the music is great, although I've had enough of Kitty Lester's "Loveletters" to last me a lifetime!

Am absolutely loving it.

I've got loveletters on the brain now - dh watched the first episode yesterday afternoon, then ep 2 last night, so i heard that song about 5 times.
i like the actress who plays Alison as she is so believable and Mary was in Eastenders 10 years ago.

It did seem to be a little bit like ' soldier soldier' set in the 1960s.

I struggled to follow all the characters but other wise enjoyed it

Finding it a bit slow but the episode was very tense at times. Very unbelievable recovery from mary I haemorrhaged after all my kids and was in rag order for days after all the blood loss

I'm enjoying it as a soap opera, but it is SO inaccurate militarily it sets your teeth in edge. Why didn't they try to get the uniforms and tactics right?!

Report
Optimist1 · 09/10/2017 22:33

I have a question for you, Poly , since you seem to know the military side of things ... is it realistic that all the personnel on the base are MPs?
