On on Sunday night. Anyone interested?

I haven't read the book but I do like a bit of Cumberbatch.

The book is a bit wierd, I thought. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

RhiannonOHara · 19/09/2017 17:34

I've only read Atonement and found it more dull than anything else... Here's hoping this is a bit more interesting. Grin

I'm torn: read the book and liked it a lot, but this was before I had children so possibly more harrowing now; big fan of Ian McEwan but not keen on Cumberbatch.

What to do, what to do? Confused

EsmesBees · 19/09/2017 21:04

I'll be watching. I enjoyed the book and would like to see how it translates, plus it was filmed up the road, so I get to play at location spotting.

motheroreily · 20/09/2017 14:38

Oooo I read this when I did a level English. I didn't enjoy it at the time, then reread it 10 years later and loved it

HangingRock · 20/09/2017 14:39

Looking forward to this

TableMirror · 20/09/2017 14:39

I got emotional at the trailer, I don't think I can watch it!

RhiannonOHara · 20/09/2017 15:52

I'm really looking forward to it now. Mixed opinions on here notwithstanding. Grin

Benedict just can't put a foot wrong in my book. Quite like Kelly Macdonald these days too. Bring it on!

I'm really looking forward to watching this. The book was harrowing and has stayed with me for years.

JohnnyUtahsWetsuit · 20/09/2017 15:58

I really want to watch because Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor, but I have a four year old daughter (and go to supermarkets) so I think it might freak me out.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 21/09/2017 09:42

Kelly Macdonald was just on the radio - BBC 6 Music and she said that despite the subject matter it's actually quite uplifting. Go figure! But I do have a soft spot for Cumberbatch - I believe we would have got together. If we weren't with other people. Or met each other. But I digress. I might check it out.

Myfanwyprice · 21/09/2017 09:49

I studied it for A level too, and remember it being a bit odd, will definitely watch it though, as despite it being strange, the book has really stayed with me.

Yes, that's the story with me and Benedict too. Grin

Does anyone know whether it's going to be repeated at some point? I can't watch it on Sunday and can't record it either as something else is being taped. I know it'll be on BBC iPlayer, but would prefer to watch/record it if possible. Thanks

RhiannonOHara · 24/09/2017 15:02

I haven't spotted it being repeated yet. I suspect it won't be. Just watch it on iPlayer! That's what I'm doing because it clashes with Victoria yes I know it's rubbish but Tom Hughes is hawt and I'd rather record things on an ad channel so I can fast-forward the ads.

I've not read the book. I want to watch it but worried it will be like series one of 'The Missing' which was extremely upsetting. Not asking for spoilers, but is it similar?

bigchris · 24/09/2017 21:08

Watching it now

Is it only on tonight ? Not a series ?

andbabymakesthree · 24/09/2017 21:10

I'm not sure I can watch this as a mum to three young children

Beingrippedoff · 24/09/2017 21:11

The book has stayed with me for years too....watching it but not sure if I should. I also got upset just seeing the trailer

andbabymakesthree · 24/09/2017 21:13

One off 90 mins

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 24/09/2017 21:14

i'm lost already :)

why is she sitting at home instead of out looking for her child?

Str4ngedaysindeed · 24/09/2017 21:15

Oh I hadn't heard about this.

I'm conflicted about adaptations of good books. Dilemma.

Snap8TheCat · 24/09/2017 21:16

I’m watching it too.

Odd response from the mum.

PinotAndPlaydough · 24/09/2017 21:16

I'm watching but cautiously, I started the book and couldn't finish it. My eldest was the same age as the little girl in the book and it sent my imagination into overdrive, now my youngest is almost 4 somagain it's a bit close to home.
