The big secret has been on the back burner i think - ready to come out sometime near Hallowee'n or christmas!

I think the Carnal/Mad Max thing is truly gruesome. She fawns and grovels over the man and tells her son Max is a 'good bloke really'. What hold does FiFi have over Max - he seems to jump whenever she calls?

sorry Mrs B, neighbours makes me remember the 80s and happier days.. anyway, back to life in Albert square, where they can all afford a washing machine now surely - if a bit of land is worth 300 k ( i know its weyland and overpriced, but still..) they must all be getting on for millionaires with the price of housing around those parts! time for them to have makeovers i think! time for them all to have the joys of their own washer plumbed in.
agree that Carmel is as subtle as a brick - the boys have Max sussed i think - they will come to her rescue.

I find Carmel and her relationships with man extremely depressing. You see her with Max and think "he's out of her league" but I don't know why. Masood wasn't out of her league. Although he thought he was.

My phone didn't want me to write Masood. It was insistent that I write mastodon instead.

Have to disagree with you, tobee about Max being out of Carmel's league. I think Carmel has a darn sight more class than Max (think about his eating habits!) and it's only her overenthusiasm neediness in this relationship that's letting her down.

I'd put Masood and Carmel in the same league, I think. Mastodons are in a league of their own!

I find it odd that Carmel doesn't see that Max is a wrong'un. She could say 'ooh I like a bad boy!' and still be infatuated with him. Max's reputation is well known on The Square. But instead we get this 'he'd good as gold, really' bollocks. Or does she think he's "deep" because of the self harming?

As for the hold Fifi (isn't that a name for lap dogs?!) has over Max, my guess is she lets him live in her fancy abode for free. London is well expensive. Neither mind as she gets off on him doing her dirty bidding and he gets to realise his big plan and a secret affair (tick) with a blonde (tick) that likes her jacket potatoe with a bit of baked bean. Knowwhatimean.

When I say Max is out of her league, I don't mean it in any rational sense, but in the sense that he's never had any trouble getting women, particularly women who are much younger than him. But then Mas had that when he had a small thing with Carol and that girl from the north east who was having some kind of arranged marriage fell for him, and he ditched Carol.

Ooh I used to love Sonia in those days. I wanted to rescue her. And Abi too. What do people make of Abi these days? I think it's probably quite believable how she's turned out but she's so unlike able rather than the sympathetic character she could be. But I'd bet Lorna is liking the meatiness of the role.
