Glastonbury - Anyone watching?

Loved Elbow earlier on.

Watching Radiohead brings back memories. Went through a phase of listening to them morning noon and night c. 20 years ago. They're brilliant but quite dark.

I remember being on the Kanye West thread here a few years ago when we ripped the piss out of him.

What does everyone think so far?

Totally with you on the elbow and Radiohead! Wish I was there!

SimonNeilshair · 23/06/2017 22:34

I'm watching First aid kit on iplayer, love them. Lorde was good too, totally wish I was there

DrumstickLolly · 23/06/2017 22:34

I've been listening to them on 6music so quite a bit ahead of the tv coverage. They are so so so good. One of the best bands I've seen live. Thom Yorke is so clever.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 23/06/2017 22:37

I don't know Brutus I am getting on and like sitting here in comfort with my little gin & tonic and being able to go to the loo without queuing and holding my breath!

I love this song but God it's so sad Sad

Am awaiting the Flaming Lips on the red button. I know it sounds snobby but so many of the acts now are so commercial and I just don't think it's what Glastonbury was ever meant to be. Or perhaps I'm just old.

Floralnomad · 23/06/2017 22:43

I've just turned on and just about to turn off again , what a dreadful racket . However my dd just made me laugh reading something on line apparently the crowd applauded a 3 minute guitar tune up before the set started and were tweeting about the new minimalist song ! , I do admit it must have been hard to tell the difference . I assume by this time the crowd are so pissed or doped it wouldn't matter what they played . Enjoy if this is your type of thing .

Floralnomad · 23/06/2017 22:45

Apparently that may be fake news ! Does anybody who knows about these things know if I will be able to hear the Will Varley set tomorrow , he's on the Avalon stage late afternoon .

PantPlot · 23/06/2017 22:56

Thom Yorke's voice hasn't lost anything with age.

I feel nostalgic almost to the point of chest pain where did that twenty years go?

StayAChild · 23/06/2017 23:09

Few bands sound better live than recorded. Radiohead is right up there. Amazing sound.

BrutusMcDogface · 23/06/2017 23:11

PantPlot- yes, this. I actually squeezed my eyes so tightly shut there were tears....I've only had a couple of ciders!

FrankiesKnuckle · 23/06/2017 23:28

I'm saving myself for the Foos tomorrow night and hopefully catching joe Goddards (from hot chip) set at the park stage on iPlayer.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 23/06/2017 23:31

This is amazing Grin

Saw them in the RDS in Dublin in 1997. I had been smoking something with my then BF so don't remember a lot. It rained and I think Massive Attack were supporting.

Just watching Radiohead. I've got goosebumps.

NormaSmuff · 23/06/2017 23:37

So emotional

Yourownpersonaljesus · 23/06/2017 23:43

It was 25 years ago that I went to Glastonbury (more of a Reading girl). Mostly went for Carter USM and The Levellers. Good times.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 23/06/2017 23:44

I've just been googling Thom Yorke and was reminded of his late partner. The reissue of OK Computer has been dedicated to her Sad

It's no wonder that is so intense.

I listened to Royal Blood on 6music whilst cooking dinner and they were awesome. I then caught the end of their set on the tv. W.o.w! I then watched Elbow who were good, esp Grounds For Divorce, and now Radiohead. So good. I am also looking forward to Foos tomorrow and see if I can watch a few others on the red button.

Humansareidiots · 23/06/2017 23:48

I know I'll probably get flamed, but op did ask "what do you all think'
So here's what I think.

Radiohead are pretentious and overrated.
And listening to their music right now is sucking the soul out of me.

BrutusMcDogface · 23/06/2017 23:50

Humans- turn it off, then.

GColdtimer · 23/06/2017 23:50

Wish Radiohead did more of their old stuff (showing age!)

I saw them in oxford with super grass in 2001. A kind of homecoming gig. Best gif ever despite the pouring rain.

Enjoyed elbow and first aid kit. Tried to get tickets but failed.

So enjoying Radiohead - taking me back to the tent in Victoria Park and Shepherd's Bush when I was 35 weeks pregnant with DD1... Elbow were amazing too. Saw Guy Garvey last year at the Southbank and he was brilliant.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 23/06/2017 23:54

I'm filling up here. I've had three gins though in my defence.

Not sure whether I wish I was at Glastonbury festival (had a couple of really crap times there crowding/mud) but would love to see Radiohead again.... think they're amazing his voice just hits a place in my head can't describe that well...and the music is beautifully crafted... so emotional
