Car Share - is it just me?
(15 Posts)I tried with the first series, I really did. Watched a couple of episodes but just zoned out after a few minutes in boredom.
The whole family except DH and I recount and replay every minute detail of every episode with tears pouring down their faces. I am too embarrassed to admit that a) we don't watch and b) we actually can't stand it. We just kind of stay quiet and play along (tragic eh!?!)
I love comedy and am usually very easily amused but I simply don't get it and think it is dreary tripe.
Where are we going wrong as it appears we are in a rather small minority!
I did like the first series but it was all very subtle.
Not as impressed with episode one of the new series yet.
I didnt think last nights was as good tbh but still had its moments.
I love Car Share as Kayleigh is a bit like someone I work with, looks like her too and we both cackle together about it. On the other hand I don't watch soaps, I don't get Ant and Dec and all the ghastly XFactor, BGT, I'm a Celeb reality type programmes.
Each to their own. The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.
the last one was awful Prefer peter kay on stage.
There's some very subtle comedy there, facial expressions,
Then there's the slapstick falling over type stuff, and the innuendo and obvious misunderstanding.
Then there's the sentimental stuff, then there's the will they won't they.
I think it's very good.
There's a theory that you have to be Northern and of a certain age to get it.
I don't think it's laugh out loud funny. It's entertaining but only if you really concentrate on the subtlety as PPs have said
Too many promotional shots of the car driving round
I love Peter Kay but think he's lost it a little in recent years... that whole X factor show and this... his early comedy came obviously from being around very working-class environments. His own success is his own downfall in some respects as I don't think he'll be able to observe the same conversations/ northern junior as easily as he did back then. Alan Carr and Arctic Monkeys also fit into that category IMO!
Humour not junior lol
Nope, you're not alone. It's as if I've done something wrong by not liking it, all I get is but EVERYBODY watches it....no, no they don't.
I'm Northern and of a certain age and some Peter Kay things crack me up. But this I found quite rubbish. And daft. And not that funny. I was gutted really as I wanted to love it. I love The Royle Family which is similar in it's gentle observation. Just didn't find Car Share observed much.
Royal family is just perfection in every way
Royle!! Bloody autocorrect
I don't find it funny, my DP does. I read while it's on.
OP I so much wanted to like this. Love Peter Kay and everything else he's done. Can't stand Car Share though. Just don't get why it's funny.
