Excited to meet to meet Bill but, to be honest, I am more excited to get shot of Steven Moffat at the end of this series and see if I like Chris Chibnall's version of the show better. Cross fingers.

I too am excited to what chibnall will bring to the table. His previous episodes haven't been too great but might be different as a show runner. Moffat wrote some amazing eppiosodes during RTD eara but was a massive let down as a show runner. So thinking (hoping) chibnall might be the opposite

I have barely watched since Matt Smith went. Which coincided with the time my ability to understand what the hell was going on plot-wise went!
I'm not sure if I'm gradually getting denser or the plots are truly hard to fathom. I have watched from the mid-60's when I was 5 right through to Matt Smith's departure. I've tried to work out who is who and what is what, but it's just beyond me now :( I just want stories I can understand. I'm not a great Peter Capaldi fan but if I could handle the storyline, I'd be watching,

I am going to watch. I have felt massively let down over the last few series. I thought Matt Smith's last series was poorly written and I can't say I've taken to Peter Capaldi at all. But I'll watch, because I've watched every Dr Who since I was about 4 , just catching the end of William Hartnell's Doctor. I live in hope that the new series will be back up to standard.

Yes. I have found Chibnall's DW episodes rather blah and his Torchwood eps atrocious (although as the Torchwood showrunner overall, he didn't do such a bad job). But then there was Broadchurch. If he can bring that sort of power to DW then all will be good.

Steven Moffat is great in certain settings (Press Gang is one of my all time favourite series) but his vision of Doctor Who was not one that appealed to me. Although as you said, he wrote some amazing episodes for RTD: 'Are you my mummy?' will probably still be freaking people out in 50 years time!

Anyway, the reviews I've seen all seem very positive for ep 1 and all seem to love Bill so cross fingers for a fun time.

@AliceKlar its not that some of Moffat's story's are hard to following. Some just make no sense what so ever! Or completey contradict previous story's even some of his own. After several rewatches you discover so many plot holes and contradictions it's actually insulting to the fans

I'm glad it's not just me struggling. Once it started down the River Song being her own daughter's grandmother etc, my brain sort of just refused to try sort out who was who and what the hell they were trying to do.

I just want easy to understand, cleverly written, bloody good stories like the Weeping Angels. I can't work out what the hell is going on with any of the Missy story lines and other complex characters. I hate things that make no sense or only make sense if you have the sort of mind that can do really hard cryptic crosswords or work for MI5

Whatever else happens or how good/dreadful this new series is, I'm just rejoicing in the fact we won't have smug Clara any more! Will be nice to have (hopefully) a companion who doesn't try to take over as if she's the time lord genius. Also looking forward to new show runner - Moffat was a brilliant writer (Empty Child, Blink, Silence in the Library) but ruined the last few series when in charge of the whole show. And I'm hoping beyond hope that we can hear the dialogue properly this series.

I can't wait. And I want more Missy. I've not been feeling the desperation to watch so much in recent series (if I've been out sometimes a few days have passed before I watched on catch up ) but I still love it very much. Want to know who they're auditioning as new doctor!

DH and I have both been watching since the first episode. We are currently doing a complete rewatch -it's taken 3 years so far, and we've just started Sylvester McCoy. Whatever the new season is like, it's really going to look good to someone who's just watched Time and the Rani...

I have watched since Tom Baker (and 11 yr old DS2 is a bit of a super fan, having an in-depth knowledge of all the Drs and their episodes even Colin Baker ), but stopped after Matt Smith's first series as I didn't really like the writing. Looking forward to seeing if I can get back into it now Moffat has departed!

I've watched since the very first episode (mostly I remember hiding behind the sofa and the Doctor's granddaughter, it's a long time ago ), although I did miss out Sylvester McCoy. I couldn't stand Missy but loved Clara, I just don't get the dislike of her which a lot of people seem to have.

I'm not looking forward to the new companion, the clips I've seen do nothing to suggest she'll be interesting, but having watched since 1963 it would be rude not to at least not try the new series, surely?

And yes, Moffat's early work was amazing. I only have to say "are you my mummy?" for one of my nieces to utterly freak. She's 19.
