Oh god, it's just too weird. I can't get my head round it AT ALL.

Why on EARTH would you want to marry someone who already has two wives??

She's young isn't she - the new wife to be in that wooden house?

He kissed the first wife first at his second wedding. Second wife seemed more of an afterthought. He's not even good looking!

She's 25! Looks like a young 25 too - I mean she seems quite docile, not very worldly ...

Yes so tempting. One of several wives PLUS you get to live in a cardboard cabin. Sounds awesome.

His wives all look quite similar. That seems a bit creepy.

I can - sort of -understand polygamy in a culture where half of all males are being killed in never ending wars, and the women have no rights anyway, but how the hell is it justified in 2016/7 ?

And what happens to all the 'spare' men, if those that do marry, marry plurally ?

Toddlerteaplease · 23/03/2017 21:12

Yes I thought that.

Did she give birth with knickers on?

yes and a huge audience.

I believe in Utah, where lots of the polygamist Mormons live, there's huge issues with young men basically being rendered homeless because older men chase them away. If the goal is to have multiple wives there's just not enough women to go around.

As a lifestyle I have no problem with it but it doesn't work in a community type setting.

Really, molly Yikes!

How are they so slim and groomed with so many kids?! I realise this is not the point.......

I hadn't thought about the 'leftover' men Grin

Guinness that's what I thought, forget the polygamy show us the birthing knickers.

I suppose they are standard crotchless Anne Summers, but made of a sensible cotton/Lycra mix.

I walk everywhere, have no kids and look like a bag lady in comparison 😀.

I can see the attraction of raising your family in a commune type setting, with support and shared childcare etc, but actually sharing the husband.....hmm.

Actually I can see the appeal of being part of a close-knit community, lots of help and support bringing up children, great fun for the kids having so many other children to play with.

BUT

The overwhelming patriarchy of it ... women reduced to accessories to the great man, their purpose in life to present him with as many children as possible ... ugh

The TLC show about polygamy is better, all the sister wives low key hate each other. This just feels like they're taught to smile and accept what their husband says

Whaaaat? Wife no 3 looks after all the kids? Err no thanks.
