I loved the first season, so really looking forward to this, especially seeing Uhtred again -v swashbuckling. I never watched GoT so I have nothing to compare it to. (GoT fans seem not to like this so much.) I do like it's historical basis.

Looking forward to this. Uhtred may be utterly gorgeous to look at, but what an irritating main character. I think I mainly watch it so I can rant about his poor decision making.

This sums it up perfectly for me - brilliant!

Who cares about his decision making skills or what he has to say? Just keep pouring water over his half naked body and all is well. And get his a better wig, because this one's terribly tatty and dead looking.

I like it, it's a tamer version of 'Vikings' and he is totally fit, crappy wig notwithstanding. What did we think? I wasn't paying full attention but I'm guessing the Cumbernauld battle isn't going to go well...

It's a bit rubbish but we love it anyway.

Utred, son of Utred! Born a Saxon, raised a Dane! Grin

It's great! Alfred's daughter appears to have grown ten years in a couple of months and is now the same age as him and his wife Grin

She must have been a very early bloomer!

I liked it.Though I can never remember who all the Danes are and what they have done to wrong Uhtred in the past etc etc.
He looked fit though so all fine....

I clocked the daughter had aged an improbable number of years too.

Agree re. Alfred's daughter HmmGrin

Always hear "Father Beoca" as Father "Berocca"!

me too - does anyone know if the books are any good? Am casting about for some new fluff to read.

The books are great. Bernard Cornwell is a terrific writer.

Wait- father Berocca isn't father Berocca?

Uhtred is beautiful and even Alfred has a certain ascetic charm. Guthred is a right weaselly twonk and I am glad Uhtred "ploughed" his sister!

I love the books too. I'm planning on 're reading them all over Easter.

Arseling!

You knew from one look at Guthred's weasly weak face that he was going to be unreliable and easily manipulated. The casting is good in this, no? Alfred on the other hand isn't weak, you can see he's always calculating his advantage in any situation rather than being swayed. Interesting. Am going to have to get the books!

Anyone else find Alfred rather attractive...in a brainy sort of way?

Report
NoLotteryWinYet · 29/03/2017 20:45

i do, he's a little bit goaty though - Alfred and his wife are well-cast, slightly strange characters.

NoLotteryWinYet · 29/03/2017 20:46

who is placing bets on Utred finding some lusty slave-wench to hump in tonight's episode?

Shocking, the murder of his friend was brutal and now he's back and outmanoeuvred by Alfred again...
