Just love behind the scenes shows like this.
Loving the laundry most so far. The sheer amount of underwear that apparently needs ironing ...!

Delatron Thu 02-Mar-17 21:27:25

£1k for a room service bill for one person! Because they wanted to 'look' at all the food.. What a waste!

Trottersindependenttraders Thu 02-Mar-17 21:28:51

I'm a bit WTF?!? confused

MILLYmo0se Thu 02-Mar-17 21:29:16

£6.50 to launder a pair of socks !!

Dulra Thu 02-Mar-17 21:33:53

The money is pretty insane and pretty obscene tbh. I could never work somewhere like this I'd probably tell the guests to f**k off if they'd any ridiculous requests and get fired on day 1 grin

refusetobeasheep Thu 02-Mar-17 21:34:30

It is totally insane! Love the code words - e.g. "Special people" equals "unbelievably minted"

SloanyAnne Thu 02-Mar-17 21:35:33

I would love to be paid money to inspect the rooms before new guests and just nit pick.

megletthesecond Thu 02-Mar-17 21:36:15

Just turned it on. I need mindless escapism / judging opportunities.

expatinscotland Thu 02-Mar-17 21:36:21

Pretty disgusted by all the excess and waste, tbh. And then the people who think they shouldn't have to pay? For real?

SloanyAnne Thu 02-Mar-17 21:50:49

I could floss my teeth with my judgy pants at the minute but the staff are so much more interesting than the twatty guests they've shown, which is 100% deliberate

megletthesecond Thu 02-Mar-17 21:55:42

How can they just not pay confused?

Dulra Thu 02-Mar-17 22:02:07

I doubt they'd get away with it longterm they may negotiate the bill but it would have to be paid.

Toddlerteaplease Thu 02-Mar-17 22:04:21

The cheek of not paying. But as if they can't afford it!

Toddlerteaplease Thu 02-Mar-17 22:04:33

*not

Willow2016 Thu 02-Mar-17 22:06:26

250 bits of luggage for one person! Us her handmaiden of course! Obscene. £700k and they didn't even pay!!!! No wonder they are loaded but that's just bloody ignorant. Don't care how much money they have people with real class pay their way. I think it's pathetic that they get away with it yet they admit nobody else would be allowed to leave without paying their Bill.

Can't believe ppl actually live like this, or consider 7k appropriate for a nights stay in London

JeanSeberg Fri 03-Mar-17 10:02:51

The most obscene part was how little they paid their staff.

Toddlerteaplease Fri 03-Mar-17 10:57:42

Yes. When they said that one night in a suite at 20k was a years wages for the receptionists

JeanSeberg Fri 03-Mar-17 12:30:43

The team in the laundry were on a lot less than that at £7.20 an hour.

Hard to justify isn't it.

Mum2jenny Fri 03-Mar-17 21:33:09

After 1st April the min wage is £7.50 per hour for over 25 year olds

JeanSeberg Fri 03-Mar-17 22:52:06

I don't get your point, they'll hardly be loaded after that increase...

bionicant Fri 03-Mar-17 22:57:24

i watched some of it but it does annoy me how little people are paid and this is in central london where costs are so much higher. it's a pretty awful world

IamRonnieBiggs Fri 03-Mar-17 23:06:37

Did anyone else notice they still had those shitty plastic pots of milk in the room though - urgh....

EachandEveryone Sun 05-Mar-17 19:47:22

Its shocking. In the old days didnt these hotel jobs include accommodation? Im sure i remember my aunt in the 70's living in a posh hotel when she was a chambermaid.

Juveniledelinquent Sun 05-Mar-17 20:13:49

The biggest thing I puzzled over is that British workers don't want to work in hospitality. If it comes to sending people home, this hotel would collapse overnight.
