Nooooooo!!!! I always assumed they'd have to prise that role from his cold dead hands. He's been waiting for it for fifty years, how can he give it up so soon?

I hope this means The Thick of It can be made again. They couldn't really ask for a better time to write it.

He's brilliant as Malcolm Tucker but he hasn't delivered as the Dr and he looks like my dead dad and that freaks me out a little

But...

Isn't he the LAST doctor?

Are they going to rewrite Doctor Who history? I wish they'd get David Tennant back.

I heard this on the Jo Whiley show this evening.

Now the Doctor has powers of infinite regeneration, they don't have to keep them too long.

I quite liked him.

The Doctor i think was given 13 new lives when matt was regenerated by his home planet. I think the episode was called day of the doctor or something it may have even been matts last episode.

Suspect he was pushed rather than jumped and they simply allowed him to save face and say it was his decision. I think he is a good actor, but I don't feel he does the role well.

I'm another that won't be sorry to see him go, but I do think that he hasn't had the best scripts, and I hope that the show gets back to being about the Doctor and not the bloody assistants.

Three series isn't a bad stint

I can't say I warmed to him like I did the other three from the new series. He's a lovely man (know people who've met him and we saw him at the Doctor Who festival) but I'm not sure he was right for the role.

Maybe I miss Matt Smith, I thought he was amazing.

And agree about the companions, I wasn't keen on Clara really either.

I never really warmed to him as the Doctor so can't say I'm that sad. Really enjoyed Eccleston and Tennant but thought the casting hasn't been great since then although Matt Smith grew on me a bit. Hope they cast someone amazing this time

Delighted. Least favourite doctor ever.

I don't understand it anymore. I can't follow it. Quite liked Ecclestone and Tennant but since then I can't follow the story. They talk utter gobbledegook and I just don't understand. Has the writing gone downhill or is it me? Not keen on Capaldi in the role but don't like it anymore anyway.

I thought he was starting to find he feet with the role Sad - but it have felt most of his time they haven't somehow got the doctor quite right.

Has the writing gone downhill or is it me?

I think there have been brilliant scenes - but overall I do think it's been weaker somehow.

Good. He wasn't right for the part.
Maybe they'll fire the current scriptwriters too and go back to plots that made sense.

So the question is, will there be another Dr and Who do you think it will be?

Report
Badcat666 · 30/01/2017 23:19

Damn it.

Heard some of the interview and he was getting quite chocked up about it.

Really liked him as Dr Who, was getting fed up with the "pretty boys" who only seemed to be there as an excuse for "snogs and romances" with their young pretty companions.

Oh well I suppose its back to some eye candy again mehs to self

He is DD's favourite doctor so she'll be really disappointed. She's a massive Whovian.

Good - he was a terrible doctor, haven't been able to watch it for ages!

Maybe now we can finally get Richard E Grant.
