I really enjoyed the book so looking forward to this. It's in 4 parts with Emily Watson playing the main character and Ben Chaplin as her lover. BBC1 9pm

Good article about it here.

Really looking forward to this. I loved the book!

Cheesymonster Wed 18-Jan-17 12:48:33

Looking forward to seeing this, especially as I can't remember what happened in the book!

BringMeTea Wed 18-Jan-17 16:19:19

I listend to this on audible. I think I suit reading better because 'the twist' barely registered with me and I'm sure I would have been more gripped if I was page turning. I will watch though but have Juliet Stephenson in my head as she read it!

You're welcome! There was quite a discussion about this book on here when it came out so I'd imagine a few pp will be interested in watching this. smile

Count me in for discussions aplenty - loved the book and very much looking forward to the series!

The new series has been previewed on Breakfast tv and The One Show with interviews with the two major characters and all they've talked about are the steamy scenes! So we know what we're in for - if that's what we want to watch on a Sunday Evening. It will be a bit of a back to reality moment after evensong, I must say. However, there does also appear to be an interesting story line and a twist at the end, so let's see.

Ooh, I didn't know about this!

southeastdweller Thu 19-Jan-17 21:16:50

Destiny that was a spoiler - please could you report your post so it gets deleted?

OlennasWimple Thu 19-Jan-17 21:25:38

I think the casting for this looks spot on - but I don't know if the story will stand up when the viewer knows the twist already. (I read the book, haven't re-read it because I didn't think it would be worth re-visiting - but I could be wrong)

Destinysdaughter Thu 19-Jan-17 21:40:11

TBH this thread was really for pp who have already read the book, was just a heads up for them, so not really a spoiler!

Destinysdaughter Thu 19-Jan-17 21:41:51

Unless I said this thread was only for pp who have read the book. Ill report it and see what they say, don't want to spoil it for pp who haven't read the book. smile

I'm going to break away from my Netflix addiction to watch this smile Really enjoyed the novel. Was a great story. Hope the series does it justice.

Destinysdaughter Sun 22-Jan-17 19:32:47

Bumping again for pp who don't know this is on tonight!

NancyDonahue Sun 22-Jan-17 20:17:57

High hopes for this.

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 22-Jan-17 21:02:17

Looks good. Plan to watch tomorrow

Haven't read the book so don't know the twist /spoiler so please don't say on here what it is till the scene has been shown

And sadly most books I've loved reading when on tv I find they change the storyline /ending which always pisses me off

Crickly hall was one. That so annoyed me
