A series of unfortunate events on Netflix

Loved, loved , loved the books several years back. The movie was quite good. Just hoping Netflix doesn't disappoint. Glad to see they have the 4th book on there too as the film just focuses on the first three. So excited

Yes its 8 episodes. I haven't watched any yet but quite excited to see what it's like and to see how they play out the fourth book

We've just watched the 1st 2 (with DS so we,re trying to be responsible and not binge all at once).

Ep 1 excellent. Sets it all up nicely. Lots of nice humour too.

Ep 2 slightly less enjoyable. A little longer and flags a bit in the middle.

The whole production is very stylised, which is just as it should be given the nature if the books, and is really good. All the actors are really good, script is good too. But there is something a a little stilted about it, something a little amateurish which if really isn't, but there is just a little something not quite right that I can't put my finger on.

DH, HUGE fan of the books lived it. dS lived it (cos it let him stay up a little later)

I have watched episode one and I agree it is very good. I couldn't help comparing it with the movie though but this I enjoyed more so. I think I might get the books out again

Soubriquet for me the books were great I read them about 12 years ago. I'm going to read them again and see if I still enjoy them as much. Dd is only 5 but was quite interested to watch it. I'm glad I read the books first so I could imagine it for myself.

Cauliflower I did think it may not be suitable for my 5 yo but the bits she watched she enjoyed. I'm sure if you watch it with them they will be fine. I have only seen the first episode though so not sure about the others

Well, dh loved it but it was a bit dark for the dc. Cauli - my 6 year old didn't like it.

Just on episode 4 now. I'm really enjoying it, I was a big fan of the books. I'm finding the slight changes intriguing.

I watched the first one with the kids as read some of the books with them when younger. I thought it was very well done. Love the fact you can't place it in time either. And the fact that Barney from HIMYM is Count Olaf.

Really loved reading the books with DS years ago but always felt disappointed by the unresolved ending. Perhaps Daniel Handler (lemony snicket) will write a proper solution to the mystery this time - he has already changed elements going by the first episode we watched.

Have been really looking forward to this - loved the film but it didn't cover enough of the books - but we felt sorely let down. The children don't have enough character - they are just like ordinary kids and NPH just hasn't got any menace as Olaf at all, I really doubt he's got the range to pull off all the character changes which Jim Carrey did superbly. Such a disappointment.

cookieswirls he was fab! We saw the film on my first ever visit to London and had never heard of the books. Maybe it's the circumstances but we live the film, I know it gets bad reviews (not Jim Carey though, hencant be faulted).

missannshirley my son is 9 and loves hP and loves this too. He's read most if the books but hes taken to watching this in the big chair (rather than all cuddled up) and I watched him yesterday, he is really captivated by it.

Watched another 2 yesterday so the end of the reptile room. I enjoyed these 2 more now than I did the 1st 2. I think Neil Patrick Harris does a great job. The 2 kids are good but but half the fun is in watching the little baby's reactions to things.

Hp loving 11yo ds watched 4 episodes back to back yesterday.

I struggled a bit to get him to watch them but he was hooked straight away. He wanted to pull an all nighter so he could watch the others but I made him go to bed. (Mean mum)
