THE VOICE - it's back, Sir Tom is back, it's on ITV, it's on at ****8pm****... it can't be any worse than last year, can it?

So, do we think it will be better or worse now ITV have their mitts on it?

2 new judges- Gavin Rossdale, who I'm not sure I like much, and J-Hud, which will hopefully spare us renditions of her songs from the wannabes.

And of course, Will-i-am. Bill je suis.

I'm glad Tom is back, but I might actually miss Ricky a bit, and his desperate 'be my friend' ways. And even Boy George grew on me a bit by the end of last year.

New twist- the judges who don't turn, don't have to to turn around and make nice with the acts. So, if no judges turn around, I expect, they just have to leave the stage all dejected and sad. which is harsh. But could be fun.

So- I'm not doing dry January, as I've too much alcohol lying around for that, but I managed, 'dry September-ish to November' insteadgrin, and I might have some mince pies left.

So- anyone going to join me?

Meeeee! I left the last one before I stuck a fork in my ear.
But I'm back <brave little soldier >, I also think I fancy Gav a bit. Though tbf I've never seen him move or talk before.
As long as its not shittier than Shenton we'll be grand.

I am sad about Rickeeeeeey. I may wander the house calling for him in the style of East Enders' Bianca. Whilst bemoaning the lack of Boy George too...but it won't stop me tuning in.

I'm going to miss Ricky but glad Tom is back. Won't have to be annoyed about Palomas voice either!

MrsDoylesTeabags Sat 07-Jan-17 17:46:49

Am glad Tom's back, I missed him last time.

Raahh Sat 07-Jan-17 17:46:57

I'd almost forgotten about Palomagrin. They really didnt seem to be able to get the female 'mentor' right, did they? Although I thought Rita Ora was O.K on the Voice, (and then a bit crap on X Factor).

Coco Shenton!! No-one, ever, will be shitter than himgrin.

Upsy1981 Sat 07-Jan-17 18:05:29

Will miss Ricky. Ooh he is lovely! And Boy George. They were my favourites so am wondering how it will be.

Roussette Sat 07-Jan-17 18:28:42

I'm in!

I was going to do dry January BUT having had a godawful cough flu type thing since Christmas Day and today feeling human for the first time, I'm celebrating with wine. Bring it on!

I quite liked Boy George on there but thought he was a bit bitchy. Gavin Rossdale - should be interesting, I find him quite ummmm sexy. grin Sorry but I find Willy verrrrrry irritating.

Raahh Sat 07-Jan-17 18:37:25

Rousette- I like Will, but he can try too hard to be 'dope' grin He was worse last year, I think, because BG was also such a 'big' character, and instead of coming across as quirky and endearing, Willy just seemed to be a bit of a twit at time. And yes, BG was a bit bitchy (sometimes, it was funny, but other times it was a bit much).

Roussette Sat 07-Jan-17 18:58:58

Oh yes Raahh he's very dope! I only tune in to look at his peculiar specs and hats!

Raahh Sat 07-Jan-17 19:07:26

Oh, I just caught the beginning of 'Let it Shine' which is the 'finding a boyband' thing on BBC1.

It was a very cringy startgrin.

Destinysdaughter Sat 07-Jan-17 19:17:30

Hi Raah, I've been waiting for this thread, thought of starting my own but you do it so well!

< waves to Coco >

I'm a bit meh about the judges TBH. Can't believe they've brought Tom back and the band ' Bush' ? Sorry not heard of them...

However will watch with an open mind and TBH this thread is what makes the show worth watching anyway!

😀😱🍷

Destinysdaughter Sat 07-Jan-17 19:19:39

Ooh and does anyone else think that the latest Kaiser Chiefs single is channeling Bowie's voice...? 😱

Destinysdaughter Sat 07-Jan-17 19:22:14

I hope Let it Shine gets its own thread as its bloody funny!

( not in a good way but ripe for taking the piss out of...)

Destinysdaughter Sat 07-Jan-17 19:36:35

Haha found that thread. See u all at 8?

Cocolepew Sat 07-Jan-17 19:41:05

Hello Destiny 👋

ymmv Sat 07-Jan-17 19:44:18

If it helps at all Gavin Rossdale is Gwen Stefani's ex husband.

Cocolepew Sat 07-Jan-17 19:47:44

I've never seen Gav without Gwen or the nanny who looked liked Gwen.
Do you think they will have the judges singing at the beginning?

Raahh Sat 07-Jan-17 19:56:50

I am finding it hard to tear myself away from 'Let it Shine'

actually, that's a lie.

It will be quite easy. grin

Roussette Sat 07-Jan-17 19:58:32

Lordy me... watching Let it Shine too. Is GaryB a twat or what, it's his show that's for sure, he is a pompous arse isn't he grin

PlectrumElectrum Sat 07-Jan-17 19:59:07

Noob checking in, been a bit of a lurker in previous threads.

I'm looking forward to this - been watching let it shine which is a bit pants so far. Both have judges I'm not keen on. Danni Minogue irritates me, and the Bush bloke is a tit. I couldn't name a Bush song if my life depended on it.

NoisyBrain Sat 07-Jan-17 20:00:23

Helloooooo! And Happy New Year all! I am in no way doing Dry January. I have a gum infection which is actually more painful than labour (honest!) so gin is helping to numb the pain.

V Interested to see if the all new shiny ITV version is better than the Beeb's can't be hard to beat it and whether the eventual winner goes on to have any kind of career. Unlike any of the previous winners.

Cocolepew Sat 07-Jan-17 20:03:01

Didnt gavin have a relationship with Marilyn?
I loved marilyn grin

Raahh Sat 07-Jan-17 20:03:19

They have to at least try to make sure the winner has a sniff of a career, surely? Bill je Suis has been so scathing of that n the past. Although the Beeb would at least have had the excuse now that streaming has taken over so much, that it makes it very difficult for shows like this to have hits. (That is the X Factor's new excuse anyway).
