I did. Hadn't seen the 1st series so didn't know what to expect. It's good! Lots of threads to keep hold of though.

oh glad this is on again.
odd behaviour from the lawyer.
and from the nurse and her sister
and indeed the police officer whose husband's body has been found.

like a game of Cluedo

I'm just binge watching series 1 before I see the new series. I haven't seen it and wasn't sure if I needed to have watched it to understand the second series. Really good, I'm about to watch the 5th episode.

Ooh! Thanks for starting the thread as I'd no idea there was another series

I watched it! Really enjoyed it as I did the earlier series.

I didn't watch series 1 but enjoyed last night's episode - spent most of it going 'what have they been in? ' as I recognised most of the cast. I am assuming that all the stories will link up at some point.

So glad this is back! I loved the first series, so it was a pleasant surprise to discover yesterday that the second series was about to start.

I was wondering whether it could match the first series, but it looks promising so far. I love the lead actress- particularly love how her character gets quite emotional about the cases and victims, and so obviously loves her job.

I found the autopsy scenes very full on- way more realistic (one assumes but can't know for sure!) than I've seen in other programmes.

Am wondering why the lawyer accepted the bribe from the young man (partner of the adopted daughter's birth mother?) Did I miss something there?

Can't wait for next week's :)

Yes. Really enjoyed the first series and was very pleased that a second series was commissioned. Last night episode was very good. I watched it twice (due to DH chatting a bit during the first watch!). There were definitely a few new things I picked up watching second time.

Wading at this stage, you are supposed to accept that the lawyer may pay the bribe because he is worried about his career/reputation. The step dad had seen the lawyer keying the car of the man who abused him in the supermarket with homophobic abuse. The step dad made it clear to the lawyer that he had seen the keying of the car.

Not that I am over invested in just one episode. Oh no..

Ah yes, thank you Finola, I'd forgotten he'd witnessed the car-keying.

Wendy Craig playing an octogenarian threw me!
I was tired when I watched it, but I thought the picture of the missing man looked very like the nurse's husband.

Wading - i also thought that about the lawyer and the bribe, why didn't he report the stepdad appropriately, its not going to end with the five grand is it?!
I loved the first series, looking forward to this one getting going.

Car keying?? I must have missed that.

NormaSmuff · 06/01/2017 18:58

and of course it is very nearly time for the adoption of the man's daughter to go through.
really daft that they live in the same town, if indeed they do live in the same town and the man isnt lying.

Report
Graphista · 06/01/2017 19:31

Yea I think the lawyer paying him off is unrealistic! The stepdad has done far worse than the adoptive lawyer. You're not going to get in much trouble for keying the car plus the stepdad had no proof and motive to lie and by the sounds of it a dodgy background who'd believe him?

Yeo, the lawyer is hiding something. Mark my words. And that Wendy Craig.

Report
NormaSmuff · 06/01/2017 20:03

i had to google wendy craig and she was in fact born in 1934!

Report
Graphista · 06/01/2017 21:43

Yea I meant to comment earlier she IS an octogenarian yes?

Report
Megatherium · 07/01/2017 00:08

The lawyer is presumably giving in to the blackmail because he stands to lose his career if convicted of criminal damage, and/or because he's worried it might stop the adoption proceeding.

So pleased to see this back. Series one was really fantastic.
I love Nicola Walker in everything. It's going to be brilliant, what a great cast they have.

Watched it again as I'm terrible for not concentrating when watching shows like this. Agree with a PP that the autopsy scenes were full-on - I was squirming seeing the pager encased in hydrolysed body fat. Also noticed that Jason's one of two birthday cards he got was from a Chinese restaurant.

I know it's very early but for the hell of it my theory is that one of the sisters killed the man as he was abusing either her or her sister.
