Is anyone watching?

LineyReborn Tue 29-Nov-16 21:18:53

No, I've turned over. Arty photography over substance. I'll give it another go though. What do you think of it?

Crispsheets Tue 29-Nov-16 21:20:27

Just started watching

Paffle Tue 29-Nov-16 21:20:58

I'm half watching while I MN. I enjoyed the film and the cast is good. Bit slow so far.

MiracletoCome Tue 29-Nov-16 21:21:03

Yes. I don't recognise Tim Roth as the same person as in lie to me, I'm sure he is playing the main part

FlowerFairiee Tue 29-Nov-16 21:23:41

I'm not sure. I thought the film with Richard Attenborough was really good and he was superb at playing Christie - so creepy. I'm finding this one a bit slow and I'm not finding Tim Roth creepy at all. He sounds like he is trying to sound the same as Richard Attenborough did, with the whispery voice, but I'd have liked him to have made the role is own rather than copy someone else.

FlowerFairiee Tue 29-Nov-16 21:25:23

I think Samantha Morton seems good though. It's early days, so I'll give it a chance.

Manumission Tue 29-Nov-16 21:26:32

I'm saving it until later.

Christie did have a very whispery voice, apparently.

Paffle Tue 29-Nov-16 21:28:14

Flower I agree. Seems very much an impression of Richard Attenborough. But then they're both playing the same, real person so I suppose you'd expect similarities.

FlowerFairiee Tue 29-Nov-16 21:28:44

I didn't realise he had a whispery voice. I'll take it back what I said about Tim Roth! I'm still not getting the creepy vibe. Richard Attenborough sent chills down my spine he was so scary!

Manumission Tue 29-Nov-16 21:29:02

(I think from gas damage in WW1 trenches? Mustard gas? It was said to be distinctive, anyway)

annandale Tue 29-Nov-16 21:30:40

It did catch my eye but I can't imagine it being anywhere near as good as the film so am avoiding.

Manumission Tue 29-Nov-16 21:32:22

Attenborough is a tough act to follow.

I remember walking around my flat turning lights on after seeing the film for the first time.

FlowerFairiee Tue 29-Nov-16 21:32:41

I do wonder what on earth Ethel sees in that man. She knows he's up to some seriously dodgy stuff and he's hardly a charmer!

Housewife2010 Tue 29-Nov-16 21:32:48

I think the film is excellent. I'm looking forward to watching this at the weekend with my husband.

Twiceover Tue 29-Nov-16 21:33:23

Tis dull. I might give up.

notaflyingmonkey Tue 29-Nov-16 21:34:54

Am I the only one watching with all the lights on then?!

DodoRevival Tue 29-Nov-16 21:35:16

Not sure about it and I've not seen the film.

FlowerFairiee Tue 29-Nov-16 21:35:51

Housewife what channel is the film on this weekend and what time?

Paffle Tue 29-Nov-16 21:36:54

I'm bored. And on my own tonight so might jack it in before it does get creepy.

ChampagneCommunist Tue 29-Nov-16 21:38:58

Cinematography & set/props are fabulous

FlowerFairiee Tue 29-Nov-16 21:41:05

I'm getting into it now. I agree on the cinematography and set. Also, I think the acting is good. I'm starting to get chills from Christie.

DodoRevival Tue 29-Nov-16 21:42:59

Can you help stoopid me. Was him in prison after what were seeing now or was he in prison before (and was the 9 years she referred to thinking he was dead)

LineyReborn Tue 29-Nov-16 21:43:32

Turned it off again.

DodoRevival Tue 29-Nov-16 21:44:03

Plus who's the man who said he'd 'wring his bloody neck'
