Just watched it and really enjoyed it- next weeks looks good too. Asked my DH what he thought and he said he 'didn't mind it' high praise indeed from him :)

I enjoyed it, a bit different from the usual dramas. Finding Hattie Morahan slightly odd, she is constantly widening her eyes for some reason. That ultra posh voice sounds wrong too, but maybe it's a true story. Will be watching next week though.

She does those eyes in everything. But she's a good actress imho.

I kept thinking that she was Emma Thompson. But I did enjoy it; along with Humans I think it's going to be my favourite thing on tv at the moment.

Sorry I turned if off half way through. It just seemed like the same old WW2 story.

Finally getting round to watching this - not quite sure about it but I was trying to work out where I'd seen a couple of the actors before. Turns out I went to school with one of them - except according to Wikipedia I can't have because she's years younger than she really is me Hmm Grin

It just seems very, very slow.

I'm a lover of period dramas and always enjoy a good wartime romance...but this was not one of them. Unfortunately, I found it desperately slow (and I'm not someone who thinks everything has to be a break-neck speed to be good), dull, dreary, disjointed and the romance unconvincing. It's a shame as I think it could have been a lot better. The ending was equally strange and left me wondering if they were hoping for another series. I can't see why they would make another but then TV moves in very mysterious ways.

I've really enjoyed it, was that the last one? I loved the slow pace and build up, but there was waaaay too much eye bulging in that last episode!

It needed a far better ending. I can see they wanted to leave one or two loose ends in case there is another series, but leaving the whole situation up in the air like that was ridiculous.

The ending was terrible! Just watched it and then frantically looked on the internet for more info! It's as if there's an episode missing. There was some right odd acting by some of the cast too. Strange camera work. Only ever one plane flying in and out of the base...

I think the whole series was a bit of a curiosity. The first article I saw somewhere about it said that it was commissioned as a pre-watershed drama and the writer is known for series like Ballykissangel and The Darling Buds of May - both very much pre-watershed moulded drama. This series contained no swearing and no 'love scenes' which would also mark it out as pre-watershed drama. However, it went out at 9pm implying it was something else? I also think it lacked the warmth and humour of those other series mentioned and I found the voice-overs at the start and end reminiscent of 'Call the Midwife' but it didn't have that 'feel'.

I think there was a good story in there somewhere but it feels as if the narrative was lost somehow or it was heavily edited and literally lost the plot. I also found Hattie Morahan a bit annoying to watch. I've seen her in other dramas (Sense and Sensibility) and not thought that at all but her mannerisms seemed quite exaggerated in this and it distracted me. Perhaps this was a story better suited to a much longer run at an earlier time so that characters could slowly develop and we could grow to like and empathise with them and the back story about Rose and her husband and how she came to be there could be properly explained and also her sister's tragedy - but it just didn't work for me.
