Will be on screen in 2018, but better late than never. Ideally they'll film 86/89 back to back.

Great. I spoke to colleagues in our German office and they either hadn't heard of it or weren't interested! I was saying if this is the Tv quality they need to export more stuff.

i dont think it was popular in germany? touched a nerve?

Now that is seriously good news. I loved that show. I "like" Jonas Nay on FB but as he posts in German and I have no knowledge of German it's a fairly pointless exercise.

Yay great news, thanks for sharing. Yes my family in Germany have not seen it either- we worked out that it probably aired in the summer at the same time as their version of 'the voice' (which my sister watches) and on a commercial channel my parents rarely even look at. Despite the outlandish plotline my two German immigrant(expat??) friends and I loved it, but much also from a nostalgic point of view Smile

Best series I've ever seen.
'Alex' should have won an award for his acting during the scene when the intelligence chap tells him things aren't what they seem. (I don't think I'm giving anything away there)
Actually, all the actors were completely brilliant. I've seen 'Tischbier' in a few other German films since.
However it's a long time to wait until 2018!

I remember Tischbier in 'Goodbye Lenin!', I couldn't place him to begin with.

I'm in Germany and haven't seen it, haven't heard it mentioned either. Might try to get hold of it now. One issue is that German TV is generally shite, so people don't take it seriously. And showing something in the summer months is akin to sticking it in the bin - nobody watches TV then. Who is the Tischbier actor?

Fantastisch! Loved this, as did my German DH.

Tischbier is played (brilliantly) by Alexander Beyer. As Beauty says, he was in Goodbye Lenin and also in the enjoyable Sonnenallee.
Was the West German army so infiltrated by East German spies as is the case in Deutschland 83?
