So. My mum tells me today that the Sunday "live" results show is actually filmed on a Saturday after the main show ? How could I have watched this for years and not known this ?!

Yes I only found out the other year I was really disappointed but it makes sense really they are not going to go away and come back for 45 minutes. I preferred the old style results after causality

Who could be bothered to take all the make up / costumes off and then put it all back on again the next evening ! There's a spoiler thread on Digital Spy every Saturday evening if you can't wait for Sunday or to save you having to watch it !!

How does that go with viewers votes?

I'm listening to Radio 2 and Claudia has switched the time of her Sunday evening show to keep up the illusion of the Strictly results show being live. Otherwise she'd be on two BBC channels simultaneously which would rather give the game away.

So how long are the phone lines open for voting then?

Wait.... what?!

The lines are only open for about twenty minutes.

I'm curious about how much of the Saturday show is live too.

Lots of things don't add up, Ed Balls last night had no green face for the intro then full green face a few mins later. I also heard one of the professionals on bbc1 radio this week and she didn't know what time the show started - seems odd if it is all live but not at all odd if prerecorded (or segments are).

It's a bit lime filming lots of quiz shows in one day.
Did anyone think they all went home and came back??

If you did it's perfectly understandable...........................Grin

It was way better when they just did the results live on a Saturday. I look every Saturday at the DS results, I have no willpower.

Yes they do get a lot of filming done before so there is less stress for the stuff that is live. The guest stars on a 'Sunday' get filmed at all times of the day on the Saturday.

About three years ago I went to the live show. They recorded the pro dances and the guest artists before the live show. Then they went into the live show which is as you see it. Then there was a break of around 40 minutes and 500 people tried to go for a wee. The next chunk was the elimination bit and the interviews. This was a more clunky as they recorded a bit then stopped and reset and recorded another bit. It was a very long day but brilliant.

I think yesterday's opening dance must have been recorded the previous week - Ed was wearing his check Charlston shirt!

My mum is in the draw to win the chance to watch it being filmed. Apparently, 5 million people apply every series. She's still hopeful Hmm

Ed Balls went missing for quite a long time having that make up applied.

He was in the crowd upstairs when the first dancers were being interviewed by Claudia but missing the next time. Usually that is a sign that someone is going to be dancing next and I was puzzled that he wasn't. He was missing from the crowd upstairs for about another four or five times then it was suddenly his turn and Lo! his makeup was on.

Strictly is on at different times each week so I am not surprised the dancers don't know when it starts. They are, after all, there all day practising. They don't have to get there 5 mins before airtime or something.

I always look up the results on Saturday and then skip the Sunday show , it's ridiculous how they try to pretend it's the next day and not a couple of hours later , would make much more sense to just have the result show on Saturday night at 10ish .

Me, too. I also preferred the old style show where they had one of two dances and they just danced them, and there was a bit on how the dresses etc were designed for that particular dance and celebrity.

That way you could compare like with like - this waltz was better than that one etc whereas now they seem to do loads and the stupid routines are naff.

I also STILL miss Arlene, and Craig has become so soft - he's lost all his vote. He was the only one who continued to point out faults (and let's face it - no-one is going to get better if everyone just tells them they're fab all the time). I've been disappointed this year - probably be the last time I watch it.

And Bake-Off has not been as good.

Now worried sick about what they might have done to the Sewing Bee . . .

*bite - he's lost his BITE, not his vote (rolls eyes)

I feel a bit cheated really . I don't think this year it's as good anyway - I like the dancers who get better week by week but a lot of the slebs seem pretty good by week 3 and I feel it's going to all be a bit samey
